Huge success.
Bearac asked:
When can I discover the epic items in archaeology?
We don't really know right now, but it's safe to assume that you're going to have to max out your archaeology skill level in order to find them. Archaeology, in my opinion, has a way to go in its development still. The rewards need to be something more than vendor trash, initially. While obviously they don't have to be (and shouldn't be) big, amazing things, they can still be more than the gray items that we get now.
We'll see, though; I reserve my final judgment for when I max out the skill.
Some time next year.

If I purchased the regular edition of Cataclysm and used the key for my account to start playing, then later on came across a copy of the Collector's Edition, will I be able to use the key from the Collector's Edition to get the pet?
Yes, you can get the pet by putting in the Collector's Edition key, even if you have the normal edition.
Chaosfiend asked:
How long did Blizz expect it to take players to reach 85? Considering some of my guild and a good lot of players on my server hit 85 within the first day of release, I'm a bit worried that this expansion will start to lose momentum fast.
Blizzard expected it to be hit pretty fast, especially compared to previous expansions. It wasn't exactly a secret that in the beta leveling went fast, and certainly now that everyone is able to go through the content, it's widely known. I blasted through to 84 after about 12 hours, then stopped for the day and did 85 the next. Wasn't really a grind at all.
Part of the ease with leveling is how well done all the quests and zones are. There are very few poorly designed quests, and that helps people keep leveling very quickly.
I wouldn't worry about this expansion losing momentum. There's a lot out there to do. The masses are not going to be geared up for a good while, and by then it'll be time for raids. The cycle will continue as it has done with other expansions, but this time heroics are going to be honest-to-god hard, and people will not be ramming through them right away. That is going to slow end game progression, for most people, way way down.

Any idea when the flight form models will be implemented for Worgen and Trolls?
Ringo Flinthammer Dec 9th 2010 6:56PM
Soon.
Pwnt_1337 Dec 12th 2010 3:53PM
I see that it's in Vashj'ir, but specifically where is that Companion Cube!? I need a screenshot!
Touphemia Dec 9th 2010 2:10PM
Pretty sure it's in the first gilblin lair you encounter.
TimR Dec 9th 2010 2:15PM
I remember seeing it inside of a clam. I think I was doing the quest where you fill the balloon full of air, in the northern part of Shimmering Expanse.
TimR Dec 9th 2010 2:16PM
Oh, Touphemia's answer sounds right. It's all a blur now.
frugality Dec 9th 2010 2:18PM
I know Tou meant goblin and it was just a typo, but "giblin" certainly had me "giglin."
Corny? Who?
Grovinofdarkhour Dec 9th 2010 2:25PM
Nope, it's gilbin.

(Why the auto-drop list doesn't appear when you start typing it into the Search box, I don't know.)
Zyxt Dec 9th 2010 2:25PM
Nope, they meant Gilblin.

TimR Dec 9th 2010 2:25PM
No, I'm pretty sure they are called "Giblin" in Vashj'ir.
Baba Dec 9th 2010 2:25PM
It's in the area where you get the cannonballs (first area of Vashj'ir). Saw it last night.
Shaurt Dec 9th 2010 2:50PM
I believe it's actually right by the Gilblin king that (SPOILER, well, maybe to some) Budd has you kill.
Investigator Dec 9th 2010 4:25PM
It's clearly a Companion Crate

Why can't we fly over Stratholme or Silvermoon?
Mr. Tastix Dec 9th 2010 2:17PM
I can't answer Stratholme but you can't fly to places such as Silvermoon City or The Exodar because of how Blizzard designed those two areas.
Places such as Azuremyst Isle and Eversong Woods are directly tied in with the Outland servers, that is to say, those zones are on the same servers/instances that Outland is on. This was to prevent people without the expansion from going to them.
Drakkenfyre Dec 9th 2010 2:32PM
He meant actually in those zones.
Those zones are still marked unflyable. While the Exodar has no constraints as it's underground, and all parts of it above ground are already rendered, Silvermoon City is probably not. Therefore they would have to put work into them, and probably won't do it before the next expansion, or at the very least, several content patches.
On the PTR for 4.0.1, there was an interesting bug with both of those zones. The water didn't render. It physically wasn't there. So you could slowfall down to the bottom of the ocean, and walk all the way out towards the zone edge. Near this edge, your location switched to the sea, and you left all chat channels. Your location would not come up. And you could mount your flying mount, and fly in these areas, at least on Azuremyst Isle. If you went back into another zone, it dismounted you. You couldn't fly off the edge of the zone, as there was a semi-visible wall to stop you. But if you flew up high enuf, Hellfire Pennisula's sky would fade in a little with the Azuremyst Isle sky. Because both starting zones are actually on the same map as Outland, just separated by a great distance. This was an interesting bug. and let you see all of what was under the water without anything in the way. I think it was fixed a few weeks later.

"When can I discover the epic items in archaeology?"
I just wanted to note that I'm only at Journeyman level (about 120/150) and the next fossil I'm putting together is the Fossilized Hatchling (http://www.wowhead.com/item=60955). So if I can get blues this early, then epics might not require your skill to be maxed. I think it's random with higher chances at higher skill levels.
jishdefish Dec 9th 2010 2:15PM
In beta, I got a BoA lvl 60 purple mage dress (http://www.wowhead.com/item=64643) at 275 or so.
Other than lower level stuff that is good for alts, you have to be maxxed and be Surveying Tol'vir stuff to get the 85 epic gear.
Svylva Dec 9th 2010 2:20PM
How does that work for something like the Hatchling? After you finish assembling an artifact, when it moves you on to the next one, is it just the RNG to determine if your next project will be something like the Hatchling or just another vendor trash? I agree, Arch feels a bit light right now given the time sink involved...
