I pulled out the oldest screenshot I could find in my Screenshots folder. Unfortunately, I switched computers right before BC launched, so all of my vanilla screenshots are gone. You guys should post the oldest screenshot you can find in the comments. Though I'm not going to force you! Or am I?
Revynn asked:
Am I wrong to be annoyed that guilds are already 11/12 while most of us are still trying to get to 85? It's somewhat expected for guilds like Paragon to steamroll content, but they've barely had time to run heroics. Doesn't that say something about the difficulty level of Cataclysm raids?
Yeah, you're wrong. Sorry, but the fact is that not only were these raids open for a month or more on the beta, we're also dealing with guilds we know are the best of the best of the best. Some of them are even sponsored. Being at the bleeding edge is just what they do.
Most guilds will take months before they even clear the first tier of raiding. Who cares if someone does it faster? The speed that you experience the game is what matters here.
Reis asked:
Serious question now....what is up with the Alchemy transmutation cooldowns? First they were changed to match daily quest reset, then they were just every 12 hours. Now, today, it's 24 hours again. Is one of these a bug? If so, which one?
Transmutes reset at midnight every night. If you do a transmute at noon, you'll have a 12-hour cooldown, but if you transmute at 11:00 PM, then it'll only be an hour. Transmuting at the stroke of midnight, on the other hand, will give you a 24-hour cooldown.
Phort asked:
1. If the worgen were originally nelf druids following Goldrinn and they got addicted to their worgen form and all that yadda-yadda-yadda, why/how can they turn into humans? I have come across nothing to answer this to date.
2. With my above question about being human, where did Arugal or Ur get the idea they were from another dimension?
1. The worgen you play as in-game, and almost all of the worgen you encounter in Eastern Kingdoms, for that matter, are human. They became afflicted with the worgen curse by way of worgen ripped from the Emerald Dream by Arugal. The curse can be spread by bites or scratches, so you're a human turning into a worgen, not a night elf turning into a worgen turning into a human. That would just be silly.
2. Bear in mind that very, very few humans have seen the Emerald Dream. Heck, not even many night elves have seen the Dream. To Arugal and probably any other human unfamiliar with night elf culture and history, the Emerald Dream would just look like another dimension. Because it is.
Aikou asked:
When do you think we will ever see a writer for the Blood Pact column?
Adam Panshin, our new warlock columnist, had RL crit him for a few weeks. During his absence, one of our former Blood Pact columnists, Zach Yonzon, stepped in to keep the coverage current during Cataclysm launch. Mr. Panshin is back now and will be taking over Blood Pact once again this week.
FartyMcGee asked:
Are we somehow scaling in crazy ways when we level 80-85? I just hit 83 and suddenly have 53k hp on my rogue, as opposed to 47k at level 82 (which was crazy enough). I'm just looking for the underlying mechanic at work here, since it isn't gear-based, like you see in lower levels.
There's no magic to it, and it's not gear-based -- you're just getting a boatload more HP when you ding. Cataclysm dungeons and raids are based around big health pools to help encourage reactive healing and more varied encounter design. See, to counteract stat inflation in other expansions, bosses just had to keep hitting harder and harder and harder and do more ridiculous raid damage every raid tier. Inflating our HP to sky-high numbers should, at least in theory, help stave off that kind of encounter design for a little while yet. At least until Deathwellcrown Radiance comes in Patch 4.3.

What is the fastest you can move in the game? I heard Crusader Aura doesn't stack with 310% mount speed.
David Dec 12th 2010 12:19PM
I move 355% as a DK with 310%, Unholy Presence, and On A Pale Horse.
Zalaron Dec 12th 2010 12:31PM
I can assure you that it does, in fact as holy with aura mastery I can for 6 seconds get a 40% boost to my 310% mount.
Glardian Dec 12th 2010 12:46PM
Crusader Aura most certainly does stack with 310% flying. Its just a passive skill that lets you fly faster, not a flying speed buff like many classes get. To say that it doesn't stack with 310% would also be to say that it doesn't stack with 280% or any of the other riding speeds, which would just be silly!
Squeek Dec 12th 2010 12:50PM
@ David: Actually, you don't. Unholy Presence is just a walking speed increase, and even if it was for mounts, it wouldn't increase your mount speed since mount speed increases do not stack. However, mount speed increases are also not additive, so you're moving even faster. A 310 mount with a 20% mount speed increase will increase your movement speed by 392. The reason is simple: you have to take the 20% into account after adding in your base movement speed of 100. So, 100+310 = 410. 20% of 410 is 82. 410+82 = 492. 492-100 = 392.
For those curious:
280 + 10% = 318
280 + 20% = 356
280 + 40% = 432
310 + 10% = 351
310 + 20% = 392
310 + 40% = 474
(The 10% is for abilities like the Guild Perk called Fast Track).
Solemn153 Dec 12th 2010 12:55PM
fairly sure on a pale horse doesnt stack just like the ret speed increase talent doesnt stack
Lupusian Dec 12th 2010 1:24PM
I would place my bet on the cool Sea Horse in Vashj'ir :D
Superthrust Dec 12th 2010 2:35PM
Soleman, On a Pale Horse does stack. It says so in the talent.
Skarn Dec 12th 2010 3:11PM
Superthrust, no the tooltip says the exact opposite: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=51986
"This does NOT stack with other movement speed increasing effects."
Shrike Dec 12th 2010 3:40PM
Movement speed increasing talents do not stack with OTHER movement speed increasing talents. They work just fine with 310% flight speed from training.
Tri Dec 12th 2010 5:20PM
@Lupusian:
Yes, the Abyssal Seahorse is +450% speed. BUT unlike flying speed, this is not based on run speed, but swim speed :)
It's late (in Europe) so I can't be arsed to do the maths, but I'd say it'll be about as fast as your flying mounts (I'm sure some other bright head will provide you with the exact maths :) )

Don't forget about the extra buff from your guild level. :)
Professor Putricide Dec 12th 2010 12:08PM
Good news, everyone! I've got a question.
Couldn't Kel'Thuzad make another return? The reason he was able to come back in Wrath was because is Phylactery was never destroyed. But in Wrath, we STILL never destroyed his phylactery (at least as far as I know).
BoB Dec 12th 2010 12:30PM
I'd wager, sure there isn't any lore reason why he or any of the liches? we've killed can't come back to "life." With arthas dead, the scourge shattered, and northrend under martial law i dunno why KT would come back honestly. He can't swim, and it's not like deathwing needs his help.
I'd equate it to Freeza coming back to help majin boo, what exactly could he assist with?
Itanius Dec 12th 2010 12:48PM
A good many characters in Warcraft *could* come back from the dead at any time. Just ask Chris Metzen. But will they, and why? Only time will tell.
And next week, on "As Azeroth Turns"...
SaintStryfe Dec 12th 2010 12:52PM
KT only was able to come back due to the treachery of Father Inigo Montoy. We didn't save the Phylactery this time, we just killed him.
Professor Putricide Dec 12th 2010 12:54PM
Well he doesn't really need to be able to swim when he's got Naxxramas to ride around in. I still think it would be nice to see him again. I would hate for him to break his promise of coming back with powers beyond our imagining.
Benjamin Dec 12th 2010 3:11PM
For Kel'Thuzzad to come back, the Lich King would have to bring him back. And if Bolvar Fordragon decides to bring Kel'Thuzzad back AGAIN, man I'm gonna have to smack a hoe.
Professor Putricide Dec 12th 2010 3:29PM
I don't think the Lich King has to be the one to do it. I think any well-trained Necromancer can do it. Maybe even Helcular, now that he's back up and running with the Forsaken.
Vrykerion Dec 12th 2010 5:05PM
More good news everybody! There is no need for the Lich King or a Necromancer!
"As long as a lich's phylactery remains intact and undamaged, the lich will eventually regenerate its body and return to life." (source: WoWpedia)
Inigo Montoy's betrayal was simply NOT destroying the Phylactery when it was handed over to the Argent Dawn. The second time around the phylactery isn't even addressed (As the good Professor pointed out).
Bring on Kel'Thuzad vs. Bolvar for control over the scourge!
