"sold through more than 3.3 million copies as of its first 24 hours of release*"I'm guessing they counted digital downloads as pre-orders that were only processed when the game went live, so everyone who ordered in the weeks beforehand could be counted as a sale on the first day. It's technically not inaccurate, as 3.3 million games were sold as of Wednesday at midnight (by the 24th hour of Cataclysm's release), but Blizzard didn't take in $40 * 3.3 million on Tuesday alone (as some of the transactions were processed earlier).
