New war games mode for arenas and battlegrounds

Q: What's a War Game?
A: A War Game is an unranked match in which one group of players challenges another group to an Arena or Battleground skirmish in a setting of their choosing. You will be able to initiate a War Game by using the /wargame or /wg command, as explained below.

While these matches are not for points, they can allow you to do fun things like challenge a rival guild to an Alterac Valley free-for-all, set up some arena runs to iron out the kinks in your group composition without losing rating, or set up an in-realm tournament on your own time. All war games must be between players on the same realm, but combatants can be from the same or different faction.
We used to set up complicated free for alls in the Gurubashi Arena in guild for fun nights, this seems like a good way to extend that tradition. Go check out the complete FAQ and see if it's for you.

So, it's basically duels but for the rest of the pvp stuff
Hivetyrant Dec 13th 2010 5:27PM
Hot damn this sounds like fun, I wonder if we will still get honor?
Hivetyrant Dec 13th 2010 5:27PM
Derp, should have read the FAQ..
For those interested:
Q: Can I receive achievements or guild experience in a War Game?
A: Because you can pick who you play against, nothing is awarded for playing in these skirmishes -- except for the rush that comes with a hard-won victory, of course.
Q: Do I get honor for killing players in a War Game Battleground?
A: No. These are skirmish matches, so no honor is awarded for objectives or kills.

Probably no honor, but cross faction war games...who knows
epiclulz Dec 13th 2010 5:29PM

I wonder if the orphan world event: "School of Hard Knocks" can be done in wargame mode? That was the only achievement I was missing cause I'm not a PVPer.
Azzarrea Dec 13th 2010 5:24PM
Nevermind, just read the FAQ and the answer would be no. Dang.
Magma Dec 13th 2010 5:33PM
I'm not a pvper either and it was not hard to get at all.

"I'm not a pvper either and it was not hard to get at all."
While the AB, AV, and WSG ones can all be cheesed to a certain extent, the EOTS achievement is by far and away the absolutely most evil achievement in the game. You can't cheese it, a paladin can HoP you and make you drop the flag, and it completely fouls up the mechanics of the bg. Plus, it takes only one griefing pvp'er to ruin everyone's achievement, and almost every pvp'er I've seen loves nothing more than to grief people out of that achievement.

Paladin BoPing Flag Carriers was removed a looooooooooooooooooooooong time ago.
As I was dissapointed to find out last Childrens week (Me and a shaman and warrior friend kept a monopoly over the EOTS flag every game, because it was funny to deny pve's the achievements, once a tricky mage got it tho, so i tried to bop it but to no avail, it was heartbreaking.)
Jeremy Dec 13th 2010 11:24PM
@Pyromelter: Playing the battleground (i.e. - killing the flag carrier) is not griefing. Maybe you're playing specifically to get the achievement, but there are still people playing to get honor, or because they enjoy pvp, or whatever, and who want to win.
However, what Emophia is talking about is griefing, and is just being a dick. Emophia, go die in a fire.
Emophia Dec 14th 2010 12:09AM
I was just making sure the most reliable flag carrier got the flag, it's much better for the team shaman with 1.4k resilience gets it rather than that Fury Warrior with 22k health that's only there for the achievement but could die by being looked at.
There;s no I in team man, achievements or not.
Elwoods Dec 14th 2010 10:37AM
@Emophia: Thats not what you posted first

Awesome! Pvp guilds rejoice!

Wouldn't you prefer a nice game of chess?
loop_not_defined Dec 13th 2010 6:06PM
No, Chess sucks.
Last time I played, I got my Knight surrounded by Pawns and then cast Whirlwind, killing them all. The guy I was playing against threw a fit and accused me of "hacking" or somesuch (he called it something else, don't remember).
Got pretty tired of playing against newbs.
MrJackSauce Dec 13th 2010 6:51PM
Oh hells bells I lol'd.
Dez Dec 13th 2010 8:25PM
Best head over to Karazhan for that. ;)

The only way to win is to play, perfectly, waiting for your opponent to make a mistake.
