The Daily Quest: Meow

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
Archaeology is my new favorite thing in World of Warcraft, and I'm not quite sure why. The rewards are entertaining, but the actual traveling around and finding bits to make things with is a little dull. Regardless, I am plugging away at it and hoping that soon I'll be able to research Uldum and the Tol'vir (or as I like to call it, "the sandbox home of the magical kitty cat people").
Speaking of archaeology, today's Daily Quest digs up a pretty good guide on the new profession, as well as some other guides about this and that:
- Citizen Azeroth gives you everything you'll ever need to know about digging in the sand, aka archaeology.
- Killing 'em Slowly goes over the new warlock spells available.
- Tree Bark Jacket has some thoughts and tips on healing level 85 dungeons as a resto druid.
- In addition, Postcards from Azeroth has some stunning new shots of all the new scenery.

If the Tol'vir can have pets like lions and tigers, isn't that like slavery to own their feline brethren?
Varo Dec 13th 2010 8:42PM
Probably no more than people owning apes and monkeys.
Zaros Dec 13th 2010 10:06PM
But, as race, most humans DONT have apes and monkeys as petsfor the same reason that the Tol'vir shouldn't have felines.
Rude Hero Dec 13th 2010 10:31PM
Actually... *puts on nerd glasses*
In WoW, humans are completely unrelated to monkeys and apes. They evolved from the Vrykul, who in turn were directly created by the titans. I'm willing to bet that the Tol'vir didn't evolve from their animal look-alikes, either.
P.S.
I don't need these glasses to see, just to say stuff.
Hangk Dec 13th 2010 10:33PM
Zaros, I don't buy it. People don't own apes and monkeys because they're expensive and difficult to care for (and in the case of larger species, fully capable of injuring/killing someone), not out of some sense of primate solidarity. Chimpanzees and bonobos are used by humans as research animals all the time, and are consequently treated far worse than pets would be.

@Rude Hero:
"Out they come, the brainy specs! You don't even need them! You just think they make you look a bit clever."

Hey,
I've recently (Literally just before the cataclysm was released) created my first blog. Of course based around World of Warcraft. It is currently a Diary/Journal based blog.
Instead of explaining what it's about, check it out;
www.ShatteredBeginnings.blogspot.com
The 'About This Blog' section and my first post entitled 'What Lies Ahead...' should pretty much give you the theme and explain what it's all about.
Trying to reach out to a bigger audience right now, so please take a look!
Any feedback/tips would be great!
Thanks,
Jamin

Alright, excuse my language, but...
What the shit is this shit about their shit advertising for their shit? This ain't a place to get attention to your blogs... Don't plague WoW Insider with this shit.
This is as bad as that Thundercreme bullshit I saw earlier. Sheesh.

From the swipe at the end of the article: "Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Be sure to check out our WoW Resources Guide for more WoW-related sites. "
They are linking their blogs because uh...the swipe says to do so. Take a deep breath and calm down.
Binkenstein Dec 13th 2010 11:28PM
Anne, you should link this in the next one, because it's really useful... mostly due to the google doc JC spreadsheet.

It's kinda sad that the old world tiger looks so bad next to the Tol'vir. Graphics have gotten so much better :/

Just thought I'd ask here...
Is it intended that my heals at 85 are about 30% weaker than they were at 80? I'm a Resto druid, currently gearing in heroics, and I'm having a really tough time of it. But I'm writing this after running an 10m Obsidian Sanctum run, and I'm finding myself unable, and without the tools to, keep 2 tanks up my myself, something I was able to do with relative ease at 80.
Numbers wise: Wild Growth used to tick initially for around 1600, now it's down to 800. Regrowth (despite now being obscenely expensive at 5948 mana) now crits for only 9k, down from 13k.
Does blizzard really expect me to be healing people with 3x the health pools when I'm actually doing less healing?
robitrock Dec 14th 2010 9:03AM
Nope not just you been healing as a Resto Druid for 4 years probably going Boomy or leveling up one of my other toons as dps soon, not QQing i actually figured out how to heal at 85 without to much mana burn its just not fun (and i like the challenging factor) i just picked resto druid in the beginning because i liked using HoTs now we heal like priests and paladins.
I see what blizzard was trying to do make healing more fun and less boring, but right now its just annoying to me.
Just my opinion gonna give it a shot for a bout a month, but the way i see it is if your not having fun playing your game why keep doing it?
Raven Dec 14th 2010 8:35AM
I love the picture and wording on this one xD it made me squee!
AltMaster Dec 14th 2010 9:19AM
Archaeology - Addictive timesuck of 2010! Thanks for the link - it's surprising how little information there is on the profession out there! Too bad it wasn't posted yesterday when I leveled from 1 - 175 on a level 85 toon that didn't benefit from the XP. ;(
Ben Dec 14th 2010 11:34AM
@SR
I think you should maybe YOU should start plaguing this site. Seeing as YOU didn't even read the full article, of which I was replying to! As Anne Stickney already said.
I wouldn't falsly spam/advertise where it was inappropriate. However after reading the end of the blog about posting your own creations, I thought I'd use it as an oppotunity to let people see what I recently started. No spam.
So take a chill. And consider what you say before you post.
Also, I hope my original comment can be unblocked which was obviously downrated wrongly.

This week at Asilventures I give my thoughts on Archeology and also give some helpful leveling tips and advice on the profession. Haven't tried your hand at surveying yet? Want to know the most efficient way to level? Then this article is a must read for you!

Hey, just a reminder really that I moved my blog (The Lazy Sniper) to Jaedia's Menagerie: http://menagerie.jaedia.net/ a few months ago. Lost the Lazy Sniper URL so that one doesn't exist any more :)
