Around Azeroth: Hail to the queen
"Being a prince is likely pretty hectic, so when his father asked me to escort him around the city, it occurred to me that Prince Anduin might appreciate a quiet moment or two," writes Kelrexia of <Church of Ratatosk> on Proudmoore (US-H). "I thought he would like to visit his mother's tomb in Stormwind's new graveyard; while I'm sure he's been there with Varian before, those were most likely state affairs full of pomp and ceremony. Anduin was taciturn during our visit, no doubt overcome by grief. And, of course, I had to pay my respects to our fallen queen as well."

Anduin can MOVE? THIS changes EVERYTHING!

I love the fact that I can take the crown prince of Stormwind on a field trip any time that I want. I'm sure that will be hotfixed soon if it hasn't already been, but it's a really cool thing to be that trusted.

What quest is this?
bethskye Dec 14th 2010 1:17PM
This is a part of the breadcrumb quests that take you to the Twilight Highlands.
Silmiriel Dec 14th 2010 10:35AM
I did the same thing!!!!!!
And I also cried a little when he told me that I was a paladin like Bolvar Fordragon and he misses him.
Elmo Dec 14th 2010 10:47AM
He told me he also liked Thrall but couldn't meet him because his father doesn't trust Thrall.
btw, one of the better questlines in Cata

Wasn't Bolvar a Warrior?
You mean Tirion?
Anywho, Yeah I like how he compliments the character ^^, I felt good when he commented on my Shaman skillz.
Silmiriel Dec 14th 2010 11:05AM
@Pat
No, I meant Highlord Fordragon.
Anduin also said Highlord Fordragon. He was definitely a paladin. Hence the holy light explosions when he was beating up the Onyxian guards all those years ago.

He said I reminded him of Jaina, being a mage and all. That was a warm fuzzy moment.
I also took him for a ride through most of the city, including the graveyard. Poor kid needs to get out more, after all. Not healthy for a young man to be shut up in that stuffy keep all the time.
And for those wondering, this is part of the pre-quest that sends you to Twilight Highlands.

Yea it hit me also when he said he missed Highlord Fordragon. I guess I need to see what he says to every class now

I'm sorry but since when does the name Varian Wrynn ever belong in the same sentence as "pomp and ceremony". He's probably the least official leader in the Alliance despite being considered the leader amongst leaders, I'm sure if he was really going to the grave with his son, he'd just go.

Roles are cages. Many, if not most kings throughout history probably have wanted to throw off the trappings of their office so they could engage in a bit of unfettered personal expression, but here's the thing: they can't. A King can do anything, except not be King. Their power, though it may be vast in other ways, usually does not extend as far as the circumstances of their own lives. They live as protocol dictates; they even marry who they must for political means. So if Stormwind custom dictates that visits to the Royal gravesite must be a BFD with pomp and ceremony, Varian probably does it just that way.
Rai Dec 14th 2010 10:48AM
...so all in favour of offing Varian and putting this guy in charge?
matus Dec 14th 2010 11:11AM
HELL NO! just go read some of the "arena-inside" and try to say you'd like to have any other king :D
Rai Dec 14th 2010 11:16AM
Hey, during the later part of this quest me and Andy the with and Varian did absolutely nothing.
Rai Dec 14th 2010 11:17AM
....huh, typing spoiler in is removed? Suddenly that post became a lot less funny.
Felix_NZ Dec 14th 2010 3:11PM
@Rai, Has Andy really been as far as to want to do look more like Varian?
whitfield Dec 14th 2010 11:02AM
D'awwwwww :3
Isilmir Dec 14th 2010 11:29AM
Whitfield this cracked me up. Well played sir

It definitely was a nice touch to have Anduin's initial dialog with the player vary according to their class. Having him talk about how he remembered my Death Knight from the aftermath of Light's Hope made me realize just how far that character has come lorewise. First a monster, then a pariah, eventually a feared and respected commander, and now a near legend. Made me feel like a Big Damn Hero.
