I'd say that Sylvanas is more than just a foil for Arthas. He might have literally made her, but she's grown beyond simply seeking revenge for what was done to her, and instead has taking full ownership of who and what she is. The others I more or less agree with. That being said, I think this is a fantastic idea and a great example of how the WoW community can influence the game in so many different ways.

I'd say she's less Arthas' foil, and more just the "good" (quotes used very liberally there) mirror of The Lich King.

It's kind of a sad comment on traditional fantasy standards (and Blizzard's obedience to same) that Sylvanis, Genocidal Maniac and Clever Bitch, is the only halfway-interesting female lore character we've got.Jaina might be halfway interesting if they could just think of something for her to do. You know, besides add tearstains to her creased photograph of James Dean, er I mean Arthas.

@HangkI'm still hoping they do something cool with Maiev. For someone with so much honour and determination to just have their story end like that still bums me out, regardless of gender, but she obviously has what it takes to be much more than someone who lives purely for vengeance...Another awesome female is... I can't remember her name off the top of my head, but she's an undead you meet right off the bat in the new Forsaken area. She's got wicked fire powers from her @$$hole Scarlet Crusade father and she's, well, pretty bad-ass!

@Tornapart I'd hardly call Maiev honourable, considering how she left Tyrande to die and then lied about it to Malfurion. Or how she absolutely refused to stop hunting Illidan for even one second, even when he wasn't doing anything evil.

I always liked Garona Halforcen. Not that she's a leader per se, but she's definitely a very strong female character imo and reminds me of what Jaina used to be... no matter what she had to do, even killing someone she considered a true friend (King Llane). She cried, but she didn't sit around moping. She is, imo, one of the few strong major female characters we have left, and I truly hope they don't mess her up in Cataclysm.
