Boss Mida originated from ROLEPLAY? Huh. I did not know this. I thought it was just a collaborated idea made by the community on the forums in a desire for a female Trade Prince--no idea there were any further origins on the matter. Huge eye-opener. My brain: consider it melted, blasted, and cooked over-easy with eggs.
That said, I've seen Mida in the Slums for a long time now (it's my hearth location now, I'm there nearly 24/7 game time). I was super ecstatic when I first saw her there and promptly told all my friends--sadly, none of them knew who she was. But, hey! Still overjoyed about it! My giddiness could only be surpassed if they made her an actual Trade Prince.

I wouldn't say it originated from roleplay, exactly. It started almost exactly like you had thought.
Really, it's the desire for a female trade prince that *started* the roleplay. Basically, after thinking about why a female trade prince would be cool (to convince Blizz of the same), everyone started thinking up more and more ideas, started drawing pictures and writing stories, and the roleplay spiraled out from there.
