@Blayze: Read the interview again. This isn't about getting Mida specifically in charge, and never really was. Also, I'm not sure how on earth asking for one more female leader (and one who actually does things/is stable/is not a foil for a male character) is arbitrarily "filling gender quotas". Especially in a universe that has historically had strong female characters who played critical leadership roles in the lore before things got so wonky with the MMO. Out of twelve playable races, we have exactly two female leaders. One has done nothing over the entire course of the MMO, but for one small cameo during a long quest chain that is now removed from the game, and only took stage in a novel because of her male companion (a novel which ended with her wedding to said companion). The other is currently falling victim to Blizzard's other major fail when it comes to writing lately, which is the seemingly chronic inability to know what to do with its legacy of morally ambiguous characters (see also: Illidan Stormrage). As a result of her head dive off the slippery slope, she's getting gendered insults hurled at her left and right both by NPCs in the game itself and by the playerbase. Okay, now there's also Moira Bronzebeard, but she also falls squarely into the "foil for males" trope, and was promptly stuck into a triumvirate with two men to limit her influence (as an alternative to being outright assassinated, which was the original plan). The two concepts (having more/better female leadership, and doing more with the female characters we have) are by no means mutually exclusive ones. I can't speak for everyone in the Trade Princess Movement, but one of the reasons it struck such a chord with me is because it's not like this universe has lacked for great women. It's not like this is Age of Conan or something. We know Blizzard's capable of better because we saw it from them in the RTS games, and there have been glimmers of it in WoW (Lady Liadrin). And we have had a few cool female characters show up over the course of Cataclysm in small or supporting roles. I'm just not sure how in 10 or so years we got from Alleria Windrunner's heroism and Jaina Proudmoore being humanity's last hope to "watch your mouth, you clever bitch", but as a female fan, and a feminist, it's pretty disheartening. Sassy's a huge step in the right direction, though, and I'd be ecstatic to see her as leader, or given a larger role other than running a cafe in the boondocks of STV.
