99% of DPSers think their role is to dish out max damage. End of story. They don't read forums or look for info on how to make a good group. GC's message is useless if he doesn't deliver it to the right audience.
The actual game mechanic needs to deliver the message to DPSers:
-Bad tanks know they are bad, if not why. They didn't become tanks by accident, so they go do some research and reading to try to be a good tank, or stop tanking.
-Bad healers know they are bad, if not why. They didn't become healers by accident, so they go do some research, or stop trying to heal.
What do bad DPSers know? "Noob tank and healer let me die". The game tells them nothing.

This happens because of the Wrath mentality... my main is a mage and I know, for the most part what I'm doing and I own it when I mess up but Wrath was a bit of a re-education for me because of how often I was yelled at for not doing enough damage. I was coming back after a long break - I hadn't played in a long time and it was weird to me that no one did any CC... I moved Polymorph off my main action bar and focused on doing the best damage for fear of being yelled at or kicked out of the pug.
I love that the Cata content is a return to actually having to work as a team... but it's hard to let go of that 'I must do as much damage as possible or I will get crap for it' mentality.
