I could care less whether my posts drop to black. It needs to be asked, and asked, and asked again, until something is done about it.
When and why did WoW Insider make the decision to completely abandon resto druids?

When we got out new ancient form. The writers are all too horrified to discuss it.

Not every concern needs to be addressed with the persistence of a curious toddler. Often, a well-researched and eloquent phrasing of your concern will get you further, as well as annoying those around you far less.
Additionally, it's worth pointing out that the internet is home to a remarkable number of resources, all easily available at the touch of a search button. Off the top of my head I can recommend Tree Bark Jacket and Restokin, and I'm sure a quick Google would find you other options. Rather than pestering the establishment over an issue that is likely out of their control (a qualified resto druid columnist might not be knocking down the doors of WI's virtual office), why not use that time to seek out the information yourself?

Mal - Wow.
1. I am quite sure no one did anything that merits you calling them names.
2. My main is not a resto; my alt is. I have a certain amount of research time which I devote to the needs of my primary toon. I only have a healer to help my guild, and just want to be able to manage her competently. I have very little time to put toward this, and had hoped that this site, which does an excellent job most of the time, could provide. Why is that? Because...
3. No other site passes themselves off as a one-stop shop for class guidance the way this one does. As such it's a fair expectation that they will make sure each class and spec is covered in at least a rudimentary fashion. If/when they fail in this, there's no one to point it out but us, the readers. No, you don't get to knock people for doing their duty as members of this community.
4. Any resto druid frequenting these pages can tell you of the frustration they've experienced at the total lack of resto content pertinent to Cataclysm. The last worthwhile post for restos was around patch 4.0.1, before several rounds of beta and PTR changes, such that there is zero relevant content here for us currently.
5. Someone directed me to Tree Bark Jacket within the last two weeks. What was there went something like, "I've started a Cataclysm resto guide, but I think it makes more sense to wait a few weeks than put out something that feels rushed and incomplete". I wasn't aware of Restokin, so maybe your posts isn't completely devoid of merit.
6. Rest assured, as soon as there's any valid complaint from you that a particular class and spec has been completely ignored for several months, I'll be the first in line to tell you, "there there, you poor little boy. Why not run along and look somewhere else and stop annoying the civilized folk? There's a good lad." Not because that's how I deal with others generally, but quite specifically because it's you.

Well, Allison does the tree articles normally, as well as the feral ones. It kind of looks like she's been focusing a bit more on the feral side of things in the lead up to Cataclysm, and I suspect there's other things going on too (since her post frequency is waaaay lower in the last few months, it seems). It's too bad since she's generally a very informative writer, and has generally insightful articles.
I'd suggest being patient, and if you know of a freelance writer who'd like to write articles here, have them send the editors an application!
It does suck when there's gaps in coverage like that, but it is what it is and although complaining in the Priest article may make you feel better it's not likely the best approach to get your question out there. You could try sending a (polite) direct email to either Allison or one of the editors of this site and maybe get a firmer timeline?

@Grovin, I think the issue is more that people have been QQing about the resto articles for ages. Whenever ANY druid article goes up, SOMEONE on there goes "where's the _____ article, I haven't seen it in a MONTH". I'm a resto druid MAIN and I, frankly, find it incredibly annoying. It's one thing to ask about that on the druid articles themselves, but people seem to, even after having received an answer like "oh, she must have something going on in her life" on other posts (even if you don't write those particular comments, they are there for you to see and read), take it upon themselves to write in other, often completely unrelated articles (like, for instance, this one, which may be about healing but that's about all it has in common with resto druids) asking silly questions that have been asked several times before and answered with "I'm sorry, she's not in touch, I don't know." Shocking news for you: the answer is still "I don't know" even though you're posting on the priest column instead of the Raid Rx column or the Queue or the Boomkin articles. It's STILL "I. Don't. Know." and people continuing to ask incessant questions about it isn't going to change that.
