Tuesday Morning Post: For Whom The Barad Tols edition
So everything would be great with Tol Barad, except that the mechanics of the battle itself are sort of horrible. Mat's pretty much said what needs to be said on this, so I'll let him tell you all about it. Of course, his wasn't the only awesome article posted on the site in the last few days. The first thing that got to my mind about the title was Metallica's For whom the bell tolls, not some weird Bee Gees song.
PvtDeth Dec 21st 2010 7:26AM
I was thinking of this book that totally rips off the title of that Metallica song. Written by Hemet Nesingwary or somebody.
Kren Dec 21st 2010 7:58AM
PvtDeth I believe you mean Ernest Hemingway as Hemet Nesingwary is an anagram of him. If the name itself was also sarcastic I'm sorry it didn't translate well across the intrawebs.

Yeah, I don't care if Lars would come and hunt you down for posting it... How could you *NOT* go with the Metallica song? :P
Christoph Dec 21st 2010 7:43AM
Personally, I was hoping for a mash up between Metallica and the Bee Gees. That would have been awesome :(
Whiplash931 Dec 21st 2010 7:46AM
Yea the song For Whom The Bell Tolls was actually written about an old movie with the same title.
Amaxe Dec 21st 2010 12:25PM

Love the reduced downtime lately. Wish they could do this all the time. Back when i was unemployed it was my day off WoW essentially, which is a good thing. (So yeah i'm torn about it)
Kyuuga Dec 21st 2010 8:26AM
And here I was, expecting that awesome bass riff to start up the Metallica's song... :(
MusedMoose Dec 21st 2010 8:54AM
My vacation starts today; I don't go back to work 'till next year. And here I was thinking I wouldn't be able to play WoW as much because of maintenance. So I come here, find this, and.... it's nearly 6AM Pacific time. ^_^ Awesome.

"For whom the bell tolls" was originally a line from the English poet John Donne (1572-1631) - who also gave us the line "No man is an island."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Donne
"…any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."
Hemingway and Metallica came a little bit later :P
