Yeah i have a pretty varied mix of both male and female characters. I just go with whichever gender I prefer the look of for that particular race.
I always find it interesting what motivates people to choose their character appearance. Some people pick what they're attracted to, some pick what they want to look like, some pick what they do look like....and I always just pick whatever I think will make an interesting character.
My main is an old bearded black guy. I'm amused by how often this throws people off...being that I am actually a young blonde girl. I'm an artist and I just like designing my characters based on what I think would be interesting to draw. So many of the human looks were the typical fantasy lore European. I picture my mage to be this wizened, stoic type that better represented his wizardly skills than your typical sword-swinging norseman.
