Mean age isn't the best statistic for population demographics. Because populations are themselves skewed, you are going to get an answer you wouldn't expect. Better is the median, better yet is a histogram. Its just like with housing data, you don't use the mean because really expensive houses throw it off. Likewise, a person of age 60 will throw off the data much more so than a person of age 15. Anyway this number is probably older than what is actually occuring, but maybe not by much.
