Likewise to Draelan, I play both male and female characters, though I have more female ones than male.It's usually for a few different reasons that I pick male or female when making a new character: a mix of the idea I have for their background/story, what names I have in mind, what race/gender combos I already have, how interesting the race's customization options are... (coughblargatfemaleworgencough).
