It's that time of year again -- the time when certain realms are filled to the brim, making them nigh unplayable. The release of
Cataclysm has hit specific U.S. realms hard, and Blizzard is offering to help balance out population issues. To make life easier on these servers, Blizzard is offering
free realm transfers to lower-population servers.
The high-populations realms are:
- Barthilas (Oceanic-PvP)
- Blackrock (US-PvP)
- Frostmourne (Oceanic-PvP)
- Illidan (US-PvP)
- Kel'Thuzad (US-PvP)
- Kil'jaeden (US-PvP)
- Tichondrius (US-PvP)
The
destination realms are as follows:
- Altar of Storms (US-PvP)
- Arathor (US-PvE)
- Fenris (US-PvE)
- Garrosh (US-PvE)
- Grizzly Hills (US-PvE)
- Gul'dan (US-PvP)
- Gundrak (Oceanic-PvP)
- Nazjatar (US-PvP)
- Shattered Halls (US-PvP)
- The Forgotten Coast (US-PvP)
Blizzard has stated that while these transfers are still free, they are subject to end once the destination realms fill up. So if you or your guild are planning a move, you should start now to avoid any complications. Most questions on free realm transfers should be on this handy
FAQ. As always, a realm transfer to any of the ones not listed still requires a paid character transfer.

I think I speak for a lot of Argent Dawn-EU's RP community when I say that considering our server is overloaded with non-RPers and RP ruiners, the transfer should be directed at PvE realms.
Wouldn't want the other RP servers to suffer.

In comparison to SC and DmF Argent Dawn is still RP heaven, believe me. But I agree, they should direct the stream of realm-changers to PVE/PVP servers only and give an extra incentive to non-rpers to leave our server. While its not as bad as on other servers, they are still PITAs.

Why thank you Hanak, no idea why your post would be relevant to a huge percentage of wow.com's reader base given the obvious completedness of the above blog

Well, that about sums it up for this topic...on a seperate note...I noticed some of the bosses in cataclysm dungeons wearing Santa hats...how long has that been going on? And why does it seem that only humanoids wear them? Do only humanoids believe in Santa?
artifex Dec 23rd 2010 8:02PM
Happened last year, too. And non-humanoids don't wear hats, do they? Where's a giant eyeball gonna stick a hat?

Most of those are very old servers that are usually at the vanguard of PvE progression, and well know for PvP prowess. It's no wonder why they are filled up.
My only hope is that there aren't too many Barthilas people that invade other servers. I have never been on that server, but have experienced many of it's players through BG's and RFD. I invoke a certain Jedi in saying that that server seriously must be "A wretched hive of scum and villainy" with all the terribad players and attitudes people have there.
Hopefully an influx of people from Ticho and the others will offset the a$$hattery and noobery of Barthilas.
I would think it would be a tough sell to move a characater off of a place like Blackrock or Tichondrius though. I know Ensidia has utilized free character moves often times because server lag would make their raid boss attempts unplayable, but I've never heard of anyone complaining about that on US servers.
JC_Icefox Dec 23rd 2010 8:11PM
Hey, I'm going to be finding a place to saddle my Horde main and his drinkin' buddy Farming Hunter from Tich. It wasn't for me.
Does your server have any good Hordeside guilds?
Jason Ralph Dec 23rd 2010 8:01PM
As much as I'd love to leave BR (Blackrock) I just can't. Have too many friends (gamers I know in RL) and none if them will leave. So I'll hope there's some that do!!

1. Critical fail.
nigh = near or almost
nay = no
Mark Dec 24th 2010 10:22AM
so in other words, it was used correctly, as "nigh unplayable" had the intended meaning of nearly unplayable.
Good job at pointing that out.
Terabyteboy Dec 23rd 2010 8:13PM
I wish Blizzard would give us tranfers to semi-high pop realms from the ones we're one. I come from BR, and the pvp & pve are bangin.
I don't want to go to some dead freakin' low pop server like Naz.
Starsmore Dec 23rd 2010 8:23PM
Methinks you miss the point of free transfers...
Doroga Dec 23rd 2010 9:37PM
I know this comes off whiny, but what is it that flags servers for destination transfers? US PvP Onyxia has been suffering since BC.
We just need answers!
Chase Dec 23rd 2010 9:46PM
Allow transfers to Onyxia Alliance side. The alliance side is utterly pathetic. We're outnumbered like five to one. It is really bad.
Doroga Dec 23rd 2010 9:52PM
Truth.
I don't care what side you come to, but please give us enough Pop for more than 3 serious guilds per side. My guild is the 3rd best with 5/12 Heroic ICC? I mean, damn.
Pat Dec 23rd 2010 10:05PM
Gun'Drak has been so bad for so long.. I remember when Wotlk was released and they had free transfers there.. I sent me 65 DK without thinking really..
Recently had some people who went from Blackrock to Gun'drak and are now on Jubei'Thos. They always tell stories of how quiet and bad Gun'Drak is.
Personally I'd love to be on a quiet realm, but my guild is mostly all from Blackrock and other servers and don't wish to transfer all of there alts again.
Adam Dec 24th 2010 12:09AM
Likewise, I loved how quiet Gundrak was - it was relatively child and douchebag free, if you asked a question in trade chat you received a mature answer, and world PvP was as honourable as it is going to get in WoW.
I hope the current situation (that situation being: all the horror of Barthilas without the corresponding progression and stable economy) is only temporary and Gundrak will revert back to its peaceful pre-Cata state, but at the moment I have to say Free Transfers have very much sullied this realm for me - my only refuge, gone!

The Forgotten Coast (US-PvP)
looks like many people forgot that this server existed i find it funny of a name that has low users on it
