Breakfast Topic: What's a deal-breaker in your love for a particular race?
When word of the Cataclysm races came out, I admit I was excited about the worgen. I had once played a werewolf character in a game of D&D, and it amused me at the idea I could recreate her in some aspect within WoW. Then the dances were released. At first I was undeterred; I play my gender, so the male dance didn't bother me much. However, things changed when the female dance was finally released on the internet. I was quite displeased at the choice for the female's dance. It was too much; I decided then and there that I wouldn't roll a worgen, purely because of the dance.
I know it sounds petty, but the racial dances are a bit of a deal-breaker for me. When I was first introduced to WoW by my cousin and friends, I looked up the racial dances to see which ones I liked best. Having only a trial account, I went with tauren as my first choice, as all my friends played Horde, and I thought the Electric Slide wasn't a bad dance, trolls being a close second.
What about you? What sort of thing about a race or faction breaks the deal, causing you not to choose them?

It is impossible to vote this comment up enough. I HATE the female Nelf idle animation.

Draenei. There is something about them that I just don't like. The females look brilliant but every time I try and play one they end up annoying me and get deleted.
The same happens with humans, which is why it's a little weird that my Worgen runs around in human form most of the time.

I have a problem with the scaling on mounts for a draenei: breaking every single mount's back

The Draenei male voice accents are terribly annoying.
That was my dealbreaker.
On the other hand, the male Goblins voices are done quite well and crack me up.

I will never EVER roll a Blood Elf, and I have trouble not rolling Trolls. I have loved the troll race since Warcraft 2, and the Blood Elves don't deserve a spot In the Horde and the should be punished for what they did to the Trolls. FOR ZUL'JIN!!!!!
Fierna Dec 27th 2010 12:43PM
Mmm hmmm I'm just going to point out that after you spend.... oh 30 minutes in Stranglethorn Vale you discover that the Trolls' greatest enemy is: the Trolls. There is seriously so much tribal warfare going on in STV and the Darkspear send you you out for the heads of all their closest neighbors. Often just to make a really interesting stew of some kind.
And then there's that habit y'all have of enslaving and or Killing our own gods. Not too productive.
Natsumi Dec 27th 2010 6:53PM
Uh, just pointing out that Zul'jin isn't part of the Horde, in fact, due to the "recent" addition of Blood Elves to the Horde, he defected and patiently awaits you to come kill him in Zul'Aman. You should probably find out about the person you're shouting for. :p
That or you have Zul'jin, the leader of the Amani Trolls, confused with Vol'Jin, the leader of the Darkspear Trolls.
gandar54 Dec 27th 2010 7:13PM
Yes I do know who Zul'jin is and I was shouting his name because of his strong hate of the blood elves. If I had a choice I would have defected from the horde in tbc as well.

A lot of it depends on what I have in mind for them.
While I thought the Worgen had plenty of character, their dances annoying as they are, I wanted to ease the PVP imbalance on my realm by playing across the divide.
Then Tol Barad happened. My Worgen sits unloved at level 16. I can't bring any desire to revisit him.

I didn't like Draenei when they came out because I hated how the females did the No No No finger waging emote. Does not bother me now though. I guess it reminded me too much of the Jerry Springer Show.
On another note.. you reminded me of that study that says most women pick their mate by the way he dances.
Moorit Dec 27th 2010 10:32AM
You are about to be flooded with replies from women like me who married men who can't dance.
Eccentrica Dec 27th 2010 10:48AM
If women selected their mates based on dancing ability, 95% of all white men would be single.
Swifteye Dec 27th 2010 12:17PM
Funny that anyone would say women picked men based on how they dance, but what do I know? Personally I picked my man for the way he DIDN'T treat other people like trash... perhaps my priorities are simply messed up compared to the average, saner woman.
Saeadame Dec 27th 2010 12:45PM
I think this is true for many species of animal, and certainly may be true for SOME humans, but I would certainly not go so far as to say "most".
(cutaia) Dec 27th 2010 12:54PM
Jersey Shore isn't a "study." ;)
jbodar Dec 27th 2010 4:56PM
@cutaia
No, but I'm pretty sure it's a genetics experiment gone horribly wrong. My hypothesis is that Snooki is actually a prototype Uruk-hai.

Worgen sniffles, The dances and the female laugh
Akycha Dec 27th 2010 8:30AM
Worgen females dont' have a laugh >.>
Mahgo Dec 27th 2010 8:19AM
I've been a Tauren person since day one. They can be both peaceful alli and a dangerous foe. You'd be crazy to mess with one (unless you had poisoned weapons of course).
RIP Cairne.
Boots Dec 27th 2010 9:39AM
the one thing that annoys me about tauren is their size, add the kodo mount and the undercity (my favorite horde city) becomes my own personal hell. Thank goodness for travel/cat forms.
