Why would a dance be a choice of a race? If you don't like their dance, don't /dance, it's not like you're forced to dance all the time.
On the other hand general (combat) animations are important to me, specially when I play melee classes which are usually played a more zoomed in and you have to watch the animations all the time. So yea, combat animations could affect my race choice.

My night efl female Does Not Dance. Ever. If someone makes her, I stop it immediately. The only time she will ever willingly dance is when under a costume spell. Otherwise, no dancing. EVER.

Yeah, same here. I have a Worgen warrior. I hate the male Worgen dance, but I really don't care. I didn't roll an armored werewolf so I can tap-dance prettily with my claws. I did it so I can repeatedly smash things in the face with a pair of giant battleaxes.
As such, the combat animations are among the most important to me (and of course, casting animations for casters). While I hate almost EVERYTHING about male blood elves, I can't deny that they look badass when they're readying fire spells.
