Breakfast Topic: When do you refuse to play WoW?
This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the Aol guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider's pages.
Hopefully, people have other interests besides WoW. Many of us are nerds, whether it be movies, TV, books, or cartoons. Some people refuse to log on during their favorite TV show or miss a night to see a movie premiere or have to finish reading their favorite author's new book. These other forms of entertainment outweigh WoW in terms of importance to some people. Others just log on WoW and catch up on other media when the servers are down or they are bored with lack of new content.
I do not log on Sunday nights, mostly because I am watching Boardwalk Empire and The Walking Dead. Sure, I could record these programs and watch them later so I could maybe get in an alt run Sunday night -- but besides these being something I enjoy, I also take Sunday as a break night. One of my friends is an avid follower of a band (I don't really remember the name; they are pretty underground), and every time they have a show close by, he goes out of his way to see it. Another guildie announced that he would not raid one night because he was going to the midnight showing of the latest Harry Potter movie with his girlfriend; he claimed it was her idea, although I have my doubts.
So are there certain things you will not miss even to play WoW? Do you schedule your raiding or PvP nights around your favorite TV programs or new movies? Or do you just log on and figure you can always see whatever it is later?

I start playing wow when I run out of money. So much cheaper then other things in life.

These breakfast questions are getting really stupid. Seriously, there are alot more of to talk about..

Oh, I've got one!
"Breakfast Topic: Are you tired of vague, unconstructive criticism in the comments section?"
Expecting to like and/or want to comment on every Breakfast Topic is folly.

I agree...its not like your made to read breakfast topics but its getting like the people who write them don't even try. Tomorrow it'll be what's your favorite texture in the world not in-game but in real life. Seriously, who cares... it is just getting bad.

Let me build on that one! How about....
"Breakfast Topic: Are you tired of vague, nonconstructive, misspelled, grammatically incorrect criticism in the comments section?"
I know that I'm tired of it. Nobody is perfect but if you are going to criticize you should at least make an effort towards it.
Duts Dec 28th 2010 11:16AM
I recall the first time I tried to ramble along incoherently in a comment section...good times, good times.
Noyou Dec 28th 2010 12:04PM
So if you don't like it submit an article Einstein. If you aren't able to because of your country then submit a well thought out reply. $10 says this is the same dude that complains there is nothing to do in trade chat for hours.../facepalm.

Guys, if you think you can do better, this is exactly what the Seed program is for. Submit a Breakfast Topic. Don't just moan about how the other ones "suck," write your own.
I expect both of you to write one now actually. Should you not, all the readers of this site will present you with an organized, simultaneous /facepalm.
Tokkar Dec 28th 2010 2:30PM
But, Jason, that might require...you know...THINKING! We can't have that now, can we?

When I have a knitting project I need to finish
c. Karins Dec 28th 2010 12:37PM
Right and the Christmas project race certainly cut inot my playing time.

When they're airing new episodes, I take Sunday nights off for Doctor Who and Mad Men. There are also certain times of the day that are designated mommy-kidlet playtimes that I certainly wouldn't put off for gaming. Granted, all of this happens during times when either the guild as a whole is off doing their own things, or too early in the day for our working out the house guildies to be available for events, but still. No matter what I'm doing in game, if the Doctor, Don Draper, or my kid wants my attention, they get it.
Himosoo Dec 28th 2010 8:19AM
I take time off for the Doctor too,
Luciforn Dec 28th 2010 12:18PM
I totally agree. When I finally get time with my little girl. WoW falls quite low on the priority list.
Bronzey Dec 28th 2010 8:10AM
I don't play when my girlfriend comes over. She used to play as well, so she doesn't mind me playing, but I would rather spend time with her than time online. My computer gets turned off long before she arrives so that she's not waiting on me to finish something up.
Idaelus Dec 28th 2010 9:48AM
I like your priorites, sir.
/salute
As for me, I got my wife hooked so I mostly play when she wants to now. :)
Sleutel Dec 29th 2010 12:10AM
My boyfriend is in town for two weeks. I missed our first week of 25-man raiding last week. I swear I didn't edge towards the computer once on raid nights. *innocent look*
Rob Dec 28th 2010 8:10AM
I won't log in if my wife wants me to be with her. Ie if there is a movie or tv show she wants to see. I guess its just common sense but i try to prioritize my time with her.
Nina Katarina Dec 28th 2010 8:23AM
Good way to stay married. I do something similar - I call it 'reducing spousal aggro'. Sometimes my kid will taunt and tank the spousal aggro to let me get some play in, but it works better if I just do my dailies and the occasional rep turn-in.
