To any commenters suggesting that 2/3 Precision is better than 3/3 Precision, please keep in mind that many of the values that you're seeing around the interwebs are for the absolute BIS gear, which nobody is even anywhere near obtaining.

Ah, the perils of SimCraft.

But the spreadsheet! It spoke to me and I obeyed!

I find that a good rule of thumb when weighing stats/specs is to always, i repeat ALWAYS toss in a disclaimer that every rogues gear/playstyle will net different "optimum configurations. " Consulting a spreadsheet (or the new shadowcraft web app) will ultimately tell you whether or not that 3rd point will do you better in another talent.

Chase you keep copy/pasting your same reply, but the fact remains: your statement that "every PvE rogue should have 3/3 Precision" is flat out false. I've gone through non-stop upgrades in past few weeks from 333 Blues to Heroic blues to Epics, and at ALL TIMES I have more than enough hit from gear. Further upgrades will bring even more hit. To get down to 1127 I'd have to reforge hit on a lot of pieces, and that means I can't reforge out of the crit on those same pieces. Holding on to crit or to hit over spell cap is retarded for mutilate.Go find an assassination rogue from a top 20 guild with 3/3 precision, and get back to us. Is it possible you are NOT the only holder of the "truth" for rogue specs?

@Ultrane "Is it possible you are NOT the only holder of the "truth" for rogue specs?"I never proclaimed to be the source of truth, and I in fact defer to EJ on nearly every occasion. Your arguments about hit/crit are simply nonsensical. Not EVERY piece of gear is a hit/crit mix, and so there is plenty of hit for you to be reforging out of on other pieces of gear. If YOU happen to have tons of hit, then YOU need to examine your current gear and make the proper decision. But MOST rogues won't reach the spell cap without trying, and MOST rogues can easily reforge out of any +hit that they have in excess. Always keep in mind that any gear recommendations are always based on the broadest group of players, I can't give you specific instructions based on your exact current gear.

Checking over a few of the "top 20" guilds, I see a whole bunch with assassination rogues with 2/3 precision, and all of them with combat specs are 3/3 precision.btw, hit capping should not be such a freakin debate. I honestly blame blizzard for design flaws, not just on rogues but on hunters and spriests and every other class where people debate on whether to cap your hit.Hit should be simple: You want it, you want whatever talents give you hit, and you want to cap your special attacks and spells. If there is any consternation (and by today's blog posts there definitely are), it's flatly bad design.
