I guess they never figured that the Devs:
1. Could see them (and all the other guilds) doing it;
2. Might not want them (and all the other guilds) jumping straight to Level Whatever on day 1 of the expansion, making a mockery of a Kewl New Feature that someone at Blizz probably put a lot of time into;
3. Would do something about it.

Because these things aren't, like, incredibly obvious to anyone with a lick of common sense and/or experience with how the Devs think.
