The
Feast of Winter Veil ends today at midnight server time. So you have just a few hours left to get a
Little Helper from your Friends or
Bros. Before Ho Ho Hos or any of the rest of the huge list of achievements you can get during this holiday. We dressed up as
gnomish helpers on Friday night to have some some last-minute PvP fun in miniature, but for the most part, we didn't see too many others getting the achievement along with us.
Usually, if you wait until the last day, anything you need cooperation for is hard to get as most people get their achievements done early on. But sometimes, it's easier if you are all
fighting for the same greench. What has been your experience?

Yes, I was able to do Crashin' & Thrashin' on my main, I had Merrymaker from last year. You could buy the required toy in the Dalaran Toy Shop if you didn't have it from two years back.

I spent hours with this year's toy zeppelin trying for the achievement on my alts and was dismayed when the counter didn't go up. I kept wondering if I just wasn't tagging the other zeppelin's first, or if I had to do all the damage to the other zeppelin, and if I had to get the killing blow on it, or if I had to only use the gun or the little air mines or if either of them was bugging out the achievement... Eventually we got the whole guild involved, and couldn't figure out why this year's toy couldn't count for the achievement.
...Fudge nuggets.

I got the title last yearon my main and remembered it sucked, so the only achievement I got on my alts was the present one for the alts that didn't get it last year.

What doesn't suck is when you do all of the year long achievements and get the Violet Proto drake :) Did that on my main and was rewarded with a 310% flying mount. Blizzard was nice enough to grant people with 310 flying the highest level of flying in cata for free :) From the looks on the achievement now it still works like that so it's about 4k for the year long journey. Not a bad little reward.
On the negative side for winter veil they made it harder for levels 71-80 to get the x-mas hat as they made it drop on heroics. You could not get a group together and run it 5 times so everyone can get it. So after a few days of getting different groups of friends/guildies together I finally got the hat on my 82 rogue and did most of the things i needed last night. Only to realize I didn't have any snowflakes (needed 2 more races) with a few hours to go. Eventually I gave in to sleep :p Ah well- next year.
Rob Jan 2nd 2011 8:08AM
I apparently never got that fruitcake you were supposed to get in the mail. So...that kinda kills the whole thing. Not to mention the insane RNG of getting snowflakes then finding a bunch of very random classes. Still, i got half the achivs. I guess i should have done it first thing but I was trying to get to 85. That said, this must be the worst holiday in terms of RNG and all the b.s. you have to do, especially at a time when people are very much into doing non-wow things like socializing and family stuff.
razion Jan 2nd 2011 8:49AM
It saddens me that you refer to things like socializing and family stuff as if they're exclusive from WoW.
Marshall Jan 2nd 2011 9:31AM
I have a guildy who would like to disagree with you on RNG: She opened no fewer than 35 Lovely Dress Boxes for Love is in the Air with no Lovely Black Dress. Granted the achievement for opening a LBD from a LDB isn't part of the meta, but she got righteously pissed at all the people who were getting them on box 1 & 2.
Eisengel Jan 2nd 2011 3:16PM
@Marshall
I've been trying to get the Headless Horseman's mount for 3 years.
three.... years....
When you could fight him once per person who didn't tag a pumpkin that day I was killing him upwards of 10 to 15 times a day.
ENNUI!

Dont really care about achives, but i did get the pet i wanted (and the best pet imho). The Snowman! :D I know its not the rarest, thats the reindeer, but still i think the Snowman is the best :)
manouch0073 Jan 2nd 2011 8:19AM
Yep, did all the achieves the first day, got the title when opened my present =)
Sbloyd Jan 2nd 2011 8:37AM
Not a one. Family illness has kept me from doing anything except a little ore gathering on an ancient laptop at the hospital.
Maybe next year...
Tim Jan 2nd 2011 8:44AM
I want the merrymaker title, being a title whore, but my love of titles seems to dwindle come November and I never seem to get the Pilgrim one and the Merrymaker one.
Urnias Jan 2nd 2011 8:46AM
Only had a couple achievements to finish for Merrymaker. Got them done in the first couple of days. The great part was that it also finished off "What a Long Strange Trip it's Been". New mount and 310% riding. Woot!!
Arbolamante Jan 2nd 2011 9:51AM
I have to wait till Children's Week to finish Long Strange Trip. Never bothered with it before, and now they tell us 310% riding will be tacked on. Not looking forward to the battleground nonsense during CW at all, lol.
MusedMoose Jan 2nd 2011 9:17AM
Yes, I got my title! My main mage has been gathering the title for "Long, Strange Trip" since getting "Elder" last year, and I was on vacation for nearly a week of Winter Veil, so I was worried about getting the title and having to wait another year. The only achievements I was worried about were finding the right race-class combos and getting the stupid winter hat. Fortunately, a little time and patience in Dalaran led to me finding the combos I needed, though I'm sure that blood elf warlock wondered why I hit her with a snowball and thanked her three times in a row. ^_^ Got the hat on my first-ever Blackrock Caverns run; I was nervous as hell running the dungeon even after doing my research, but it went okay thanks to a good tank and healer, and I got the hat. Yay.
Y'know what gets me, though? My hunter *and* my priest both found winter hats as regular world drops while doing quests. WTF, RNG.
P_I_R_A_A Jan 2nd 2011 9:18AM
Got Merrymaker this year cause was too lazy to level cooking. Also got BB King achi. Fuck yeah!
Zapp and Roger Jan 2nd 2011 9:30AM
Total Scrooge here lol
Fefferman Jan 2nd 2011 9:48AM
I had really good intentions of achieving the title this year, but it just didn't happen. I got caught up in the excitement of levelling from 80 to 85, so ended up spending most of Winter Veil in Hyjal and Uldum instead of working on the title requirements.
DeathByPain Jan 2nd 2011 9:49AM
Got Merrymaker and with it my 2nd Violet-Proto on one alt (Got it on my main with The Noble this year too)
Also earned Merrymaker on another alt, but for this toon the worst part was getting cooking up to 375 from around 30. Fished and cooked with every spare moment during my work week, and got done with everything with about 4 hrs left. The race/class combos are easy when you have multiple accounts ;-)
Shinzen Jan 2nd 2011 9:57AM
I just hit level 80 on the First at 10 pm. At that time the only thing I needed to finish was the red hat. I got a group together from my guild, and we ran in and got it.
I got Merrymaker 4 hours before the Veil ended. I was level 64 when Winterveil started.
I call that a win.
