The Queue: Wake up

Am I talking about Alan Wake or falling asleep with The Queue open in my editing software? In your heart, you know the truth.
Borayar asked:
Just finished the Sun Oblisk quest in Uldum. Why is the meteor beam shooting toward Azeroth's core? Titan engine? Ragnaros' goblin BBQ? Twilight Hammer's community spa tub?
Uldum conceals machinery that can be used to re-originate Azeroth -- that is, scrap the whole darn thing and start over. It's likely that this is these are the devices that would've responded to Algalon's request should we have failed to change his mind.
Styopa asked:
Why don't they just raise Cairne Bloodhoof? I mean really, no lvl 14 priests anywhere around?
It's important to make a distinction between game mechanics and lore. You couldn't use a Phoenix Down on Aeris either.
Thedoctor2031 asked:
I've been wondering about raids. Which raid are we supposed to go to first? Are all of them of the same difficulty level? Argaloth wasn't to difficult of an encounter when my group tried him, but Halfus absolutely destroyed us. Magmaw also looks rather easy but than the Omnitron Defence System looks rather intimidating. We don't even think we should try council at the Four Winds. Any thoughts?
All of the currently-available raids are on the same tier, so they should provide similar challenges, though some specific encounters will definitely be more difficult than others (just like every tier before this). And, just like Wrath's Vault of Archavon, encounters in Baradin Hold will be much less difficult than encounters in "real" raids.
Biggjudicem asked:
For the 12 days of Winter Veil giveaway, are all the winners going to be announced at the end, or is is when each individual 'day' ends is the winner informed right away?
We inform the winners privately, though it may not be until a few days or more after the contest ends.
DarkFinch asked:
Characters have been able to buy racial war-mounts using Honor points for quite some time. As a horde character, I've managed to get all 5 mounts... But now I'm wondering, why hasn't Blizzard given a war-version of the Goblin trike? Has Blizz mentioned anything about adding such a mount to the game?
Black elekks and hawkstriders weren't available until a few patches into Burning Crusade, so if we're getting a PvP version of the goblin trike, it may not be for a while yet.

I hope they put some more polish into the trikes before rolling out a black war trike. The lack of animations compared to the motorcycles is really striking.

So i am leveling archaeology (most boring thing ever) and I was looking at the list of rare artifacts. Then i saw that the fossilized raptor mount was only for (if i remember right) 225-300. If this is true, im going to be so angry because i missed my chance to get one of the coolest mounts ever. Please tell me this is not the case, because most other epic artifacts are not for a limited duration.

"I got this project at archaeology level 525. It was my 13th fossil project. Other people in my guild that also have this mount (myself included) all discovered the fossilized hatchling before discovering this mount, and we have a theory that you have to discover the companion pet before you can find the mount."
So no, it's not a limited level thing.

Phoenix Down was used to revive KO'd characters, not dead ones. Common misconception.
There's no lore-based reason to no ress Cairne, except: IT'S LORE, DON'T ARGUE. Which is dumb.

Ok, Ill check it all out there.

Everyone knows how to resurrect Aeris and get her to rejoin their party, right?

Ive got max level toons on both alliance and horde, youll find the same types of people on either side.

@ Lilywillylover: Your bias is showing. As well as your hypocrisy, "It's a video game, don't get too invested in one faction or another".

A question regarding game mechanics vs lore...
If resurrection is considered a game mechanic, it seems odd for them to include it as an integral part of defeating the Lich King... Was it just to show how silly it would be for the Lich King to be defeated by a bunch of heroes or has my character now been killed and resurrected by lore?
Al Jan 3rd 2011 7:12AM
You were near-death, but saved with moments to spare. Plus it's magic, whereas (the much older) Cairne took a poisoned blade to the gut.
Which doesn't really gel with stitching the Argent Crusader back together in Icecrown, or any of the Setbacks various bosses have recovered from so I guess it's all a matter of plot convienence.

The problem with people saying there's not rezzing in game, is there is in fact a Taunka quest in Dragonblight where the chief of the village DOES bring his warriors back from the dead in a mass rezz after you free him. It's not like there's some debuff on them going "Hey, they're in freezing water and snow and have Necromancers and evil bugs all around them, but pfft...they're just MOSTLY dead. Necromancers aren't experienced with the dead enough to tell the difference, yanno." I'm pretty sure this by far isn't an isolated quest in using that mechanic.
Now, I agree with the reasoning that this isn't the -norm- and I suspect some characters who are truly at peace with death, as Cairne likely was, might have just simply refused to hit the Accept button and logged out instead. Or maybe he was worried that the Grimtotem or Garrosh would corpse camp him. Either way, I think it's understandable why it isn't used for MAJOR lore figures. Death should have some meaning, even in a world where some have power to pull others back from it. Just like there were Argent Crusaders who would throw a buff on you when you freed them in Icecrown, we occasionally DO see 'game mechanics' thrown into the world. I think it's safe to assume from all the people who came back who were supposed to be DEAD, there are definitely forms of resurrection ICly. It's just sometimes there's circumstances where it can be explained why that character didn't receive it, or why for the story's sake, even if they should have, they couldn't. It's one of those things we just have to take with a grain of salt while playing and keep going.

Can't wait until we get Epic War Camels!

Why don't they just raise Cairne Bloodhoof? I mean really, no lvl 14 priests anywhere around?
I think the answer is quite simple: Princess Bride "Mostly Dead" mechanics which are quietly used in lore vs gameplay.
You see, when players die, they're only "Mostly Dead" and a raise, or possibly chocolate-covered resurrection nut can bring them back.
When lore characters die, it's for real. They just need to make this more clear.
Al Jan 3rd 2011 7:45PM
Well, some of them anyway.
I think it's only 'good' lore characters that can't come back. Except Medivh.
