The Daily Quest: Crowd control

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
That's right, today's topic is heroic dungeons and crowd control -- and I'm not talking the type where you give motivational speeches to the mentally inept. Here's a small selection of posts from around the blogosphere about taking control of angry crowds:
- Manalicious has an amazing post full of tips for Cataclysm mages seeking heroics.
- Girls Don't Play WoW fills us in on warlocks and CC.
- OutDPS has a good guide to hunter crowd control in Cataclysm dungeons.
- Druid Main posts Smart Pulling 101: Priority and Crowd Control that explains everything from marking icons to macros for, well, smart pulling.

I've offered many times to CC things in dungeons, I make sure people know that I can hibernate things. Unfortunately, it just doesn't seem to work very often. :(
That being said, I have a new post on my blog: my New Year's Resolutions. http://corath.wordpress.com/2011/01/03/druid-new-years-resolutions/
Enjoy!

Crowd control really is a hot topic right now, which is good - the more CC that people use in the game, the better dungeon runs get.
You can add my voice to the throng with my latest post, Warlock CC and You: How to Crowd Control like a Pro in Cataclysm.
And while I write about Warlocks, because, well - let's face it, Warlocks gem for awesome, it's our most desirable secondary stat - every class with CC can and should be using it in PvE right now. No exceptions.
Enjoy!

There we go!
(Apparently I should stop gemming for awesome and start gemming for "remember to attach files, not Reply to All, and make sure the link will work before hitting Add Comment.")

Yeah because when you see epic fights in movies and books it's a bunch of heroes fighting a toad + a sheep + a sapped guard + a feared guard + some poor shlob getting massacred 5v1. The heroes are out to sheep the evil, never to punch their faces in with a hammer.
CC removes the fun and adds the boring. It makes dungeons slower and less dynamic, and unless blizzard drop that stupid idea that should have stayed back in BC very soon and change direction, i'll be out looking for a new game.

Hello, Cynwise! Enjoyed the article and definitely need to change my gameplay.
Goodbye, bdew. Can't say that I've had the pleasure.

I'm all about CC in heroics but i have noticed that 1 week of people getting a decent amount of high ilvl gear and CC is becoming obsolete already. Tanks are reducing incoming dmg a lot more, healers are healing through it and dps is high enough to burn mobs down fast enough before any serious dmg is dished out.
I always pug my heroics and i can safely say aoe zerging has come back not 3 weeks after catas release.

Sadly he is right. But who didn't see this coming?

Thank you for the link and kind words, Anne! There have been many great posts on this topic in the past few days. My original post only covers Throne of the Tides and Blackrock Caverns - I've added another with The Stonecore, Vortex Pinnacle, and Grim Batol:

I love getting feedback from other mages, too. Often they've thought of things I haven't!

This week Asilventures explains when you should and when you shouldn't use vote kick in a dungeon! Need to kick someone but will feel rude? Don't if it's in some of the scenarios I listed!

Don't be that guy!

I usually sprint ahead and mark/sap simultaneously and yell not to touch my sap. Went into a H-Stonecore with a mage, rogue (me), pally healer, DK tank, and a boomchicken I told the tank we would CC all but one mob when we could burn it down then move to the next one. The pally said we were all bad for CCing all but one mob so he nerd raged some pulled and left.
