I used to do a ton of gold in my realm with blacksmith the first 2 weeks selling all the pvp healer and dps parts, i sold each of them at 1400g. And i made quite a big chunk of gold out of that, untill dumb undercutters leveled blacksmith, i started to get undercuts, but not for 10g or 100g, by 700g!!! and 800g!!
They ruined the market, now those same pieces are selling even cheaper than mats, at 300g and 400g
Now i just do old regular farming, still good gold, but not as good as bs pieces
i hate them =(

No, i do not hate supply and demand.. i hate idiots
why do someone have to undercut me for 700g, instead of undercutting me for 50g and getting 650g more.. i hate the way of reasoning of those guys, that way of thinking make everybody lose
they lose gold, i lose gold, and the other blacksmiths also lose gold, no one wins out of that

Sorry, JT is right on this one. If you think the undercutter is below market value, buy him out and re-list. If he's not, and he made a small profit off your greed, he'll do it again and again. He wins, you lose.

Because they know you will undercut them again. Which is why they undercut you hard, because they would rather sell their stuff, than have you relist under them and they don't get any gold.
Now undercutting under the price of mats can be either smart or stupid.
Smart: It's a leveling pattern, and there are a billion of them, so you'll never profit from them.
Stupid: Max level items, you farmed the mats yourself, or bought mats and are selling it at a loss. Only thing you can do as a competitor is leave the market.

You made a lot of money by gouging people when you were a monopoly. Don't cry when market forces cut your profits. Be happy you made a lot of gold when you did.

The pvp parts stopped selling probably because of the 1800 honor you get for winning TB and the bridge exploit. Basically you gain 1800 every few hours just by standing at the bridge in TB, not even having to be called to battle. On my server, it's obvious the two factions were win trading because control flip flopped between Horde and Alliance every 3 hours. There were always a huge crowd on the bridge too. Now they changed the honor for winning back to 360ish, crafted PvP gear probably will become needed again.
As for the weapons, don't buy the 2-hander melee dps one if you are on a PvE server. TB does not auto-mark you PvP and there's a weapon on the TB rep guy at revered. With the win trading going on, you can gain that amount of rep within a week just by doing the dailies. I only have patterns for plate dps items, so I'm not sure if the others sell. The epic belt doesn't sell above mat cost. Nor does the epic chest. Nor does eternal belt buckles. Though my server has very high ore prices so maybe that's the reason. However I do see a lot of tanks with the crafted shield.

I made a ton of gold selling crafted pieces for 600g-800g in the first couple weeks. Others were trying to sell them for 1400G+, but with mats cost around 200-300g, I was still around 100% markup, which I figured is more than fair. I knew it wouldn't last, and chose my pieces carefully.
I managed to sell the epic tanking shield for 5K gold after listing it twice, but I got a good deal on the pyrite at only 800g/ea. The pyrite is now back up to 1500g/ea, which means alchemists are the only ones making any money from crafted BS patterns that use chaos orbs.
