Patch 4.0.6 being deployed on PTR servers

As for the changes themselves, right now, indications are that they are a lot of the tooltip changes and other minor tweaks prompted by the last month of hotfixes. Remember that just because a change goes up with a hotfix, a lot of times, the in-game wording won't be able to be updated until a client patch.
And just to be super-clear: This isn't patch 4.1. There are no indications that there are any new raids or anything else with this patch.
More throughout the day as we get it in!

Is it possible we'll be seeing some Mage changes with this patch? I play Arcane, and yes, it's bottom of the barrel in the Deep-race. I blame the mastery. It's like saying you have a machine gun, but if you shoot more than one bullet every 3 seconds, they turn into water balloons. =(
Anyways, I'm enjoying the class and WoW's dungeons/raids as they are right now. Just hoping to get buffed (like everyone else).

Amen to that. I like Arcane, but have specced into Fire for the time being. Free scorches while running are indeed fun, but the fact that I need a dedicated addon just to keep track of my DOTs is not.
The Mana Adept mechanic is cool though, I hope they can make it work without totally redesigning Arcane again.

Re: Billaos's comment...
I have done the same but I have found that Fire seems to be a bit spiky as far as dps is concerned. Doing 10k in one fight then barely breaking 6 on the next. Hate waiting and begging for a PB proc.....

The best part about Mana Adept to me is that the timing of your rotation varies depending on the mana regen mechanics present in your group - the length of time you end up in the conservation phase fluctuates from a minute to practically none. It makes a relatively boring rotation really dynamic and fun to manage.
That being said, the way mana adept works, plus the lowish dps, the lack of hardcore CC and the utterly RIDICULOUS respawn timers on some mobs (lookin' at you, Tol Barad) make arcane agonizing to solo as.
So yeah. A buff'd be awfully nice.

Add to that list the embarrassingly bad AoE. I almost want to quit group when I see other characters one-shotting non-elites in instances, while I get them at most to 50% health :-(

That pink-haired Gnome sure has been busy this month. Why do Goblin engineers never feature on patch-related posts?
Oh yeah, explosions. Never mind.
AGx07162 Jan 6th 2011 11:41AM
OMG its a Taru >< Go away.
Kal Jan 6th 2011 12:48PM
Because we want fixes, not explosions. Even if the goblin is very sure that blowing it up is 'fixing it'.
Kal Jan 6th 2011 12:49PM
Oh dang, didn't see the last sentence, I claim being distracted by the awkward reply before mine.

It looks more purple on my screen. Perhaps you're using an LCD, which is inherently poor at displaying a wide range of color?

Hopefully this includes the Chaotic Meta fix.
Worc Jan 6th 2011 11:36AM
You dont like your hit gems when u cant reforge str/int/agil cuz its already on your gear? Oh yea, me either. Im all about using proper gems for set bonuses if they warrant it, but lets go, get this fixed!

From MMO Champ...
"# Blood Presence now increases armor contribution by 30%, down from 60%."
Awesome, DK tanks were far too strong before, not squishy at all.
"# Death Strike now heals for 15% of the damage sustained, down from 25%."
Oh great, we were really overhealing ourselves what with there being no rune locking when you most needed a DS.
"# Crimson Scourge now has a 5/10% chance to proc from melee attacks on a target infected with your Blood Plague. (Old - 50/100% chance to proc from Plague Strike)"
Awesome, Diseaseless just became a LOT less viable, and STILL doesn't have higher threat generation.
"# Will of the Necropolis no longer regenerates a Blood Rune but makes your next Rune Tap free instead. "
Oh great, I didn't need that blood rune anyway, the 10% health is far more valuable than a brand new blood shield to protect me from damage.

To the ground...

Yeah it seems tanking took a huge beating (15% on death strike makes me and my mastery sad), but theres a dps skill in each tree that got a buff, so DPS dks got some loving.
I think its nice that they're trying to make crimson scourge useful (extra PS proc was strange), but I still find a DnD, a blood boil, and some liberal use of heart strike more than capable of holding down aoe packs.

Hey, a bit OT but i was wondering something
Ive never made an Undead before and i really want to check ouyt the new zones. But i just cant settle on a class for Undead. Lorewise it should be Shadow Priests but i dunno if shadow priests are viable while leveling.
Everyone chooses either Warlock or Rogue, but Lorewise neither of them suit Undead. Orcs should be Warlocks and i might make a Goblin rogue. Are there any Lore reasons why Undead would be Warlocks? Orcs seem to be the best warlock choice for me.
Thing is, in my head each race has their ideal class. Orcs have Hunters, Warlocks and Warriors. Goblins have Rogues. Blood Elves have Mages. Tauren have Shaman. Trolls have Druid and Undead...have... i dont know. That list isnt based on lore or whatever, its based on My personal feelings. But i just cant seem to find a class that suits Undead.
RareLine Jan 6th 2011 12:11PM
Undead do have a lore reason for being rogues, they are sylvanas' deathstalkers from what I remember
STHedgeHog Jan 6th 2011 12:12PM
I've never really played any Horde chars past 10 or so, but can assure you Shadow Priests are very viable for leveling. They can do decent dps and have the upshot of being able to heal.
Lorewise I don't know alot about The Forsaken, save for the story from WC3, so can't really help you there, soz.
N-train Jan 6th 2011 12:20PM
Forsaken have most all of the abilities that their human forms had, so all of their class choices seem reasonable to me. The only exception is paladin, and the undead are effectively cut off from the light (Blizz has stated forsaken healing priests require an incredible amount of discipline and control), so it makes sense they can't be them.
But really, you don't see a warlock or rouge fitting to an undead zombie? There's even an undead warlock in the original wow trailer.
