Phat Loot Phriday: Eyes of Rajh

Lolegolas stood near by, idly tossing two balls in the air. "Rajh's eyes. I'm trying to decide about using them."
Throgg cocked his head to the side, furrowing his unibrow with consternation. The orc clearly looked confused.
"They're quite fantastic, you see. The Left Eye of Rajh grants an amazing amount of agility. But the expertise isn't so great for someone rocking a bow. The Right Eye of Rajh? It boasts a fantastic load of hit, but its ability to boost melee attacks is wasted on me."
"So, what you're saying," Throgg muttered, "is that they're hunter weapons."
Lolegolas looked at the orc with a blank stare. "If I were a rogue, both the trinket issue and the hunter-mockery issue could be instantly solved."
Throgg whistled innocently.
- Trinket
- Equip: Increases your hit rating by 285 (2.37% @ L85).
- Equip: Your melee critical strikes have a chance to grant 1,710 strength for 10 seconds.
- Trinket
- Equip: Increases your expertise rating by 285 (9.49 @ L85).
- Equip: Your melee and ranged critical strikes have a chance to grant 1,710 agility for 10 seconds.
How to get rid of it: Both eyes disenchant into a Heavenly Shard or sell for 8 gold, 5 silver, and 7 copper.

wish the Left Eye of Rajh (heroic) would drop more often for me on my Rogue. :(
The Angry Intern Jan 7th 2011 6:20PM
I've seen it drop a few times, got it on my Hunter

Left Eye of Rajh is the most cruelly evil trinket ever.
Expertise? On a trinket that procs an agility bonus on melee and RANGED attacks?
They could have at least made it on melee-only attacks so we poor hunters didn't feel so screwed. But doing it this way is just an insult, a way to kick hunters in the nuts and say 'Hah, it could have been a pretty toy for you, but now we're making it only really useful for rogues'

I'm trying to collect both of these, even though only one is goo for me, because my name is Raj, which is about as close as I'll get to seeing an item with my name on it.

I can just picture it now...a bunch of greedy players, hunched over his dead body, scavenging out his eyes.
But you got the left one! I want the right!
Minos Jan 7th 2011 3:31PM
It's too bad these don't have a set bonus.

Greatest.... intro....ever!

Who melees and uses both strength and agility? That's the only spec that would get a real benefit out of using both these things. Enhance shamans mebbe?
Maccabeus Jan 7th 2011 3:44PM
Neither of these have strength...

I retract my previous statement >.>

As said by Lolegolas:
"If I were a rogue, both the trinket issue and the hunter-mockery issue could be instantly solved."
ALL melee classes get SOME benefit from strength, albeit not-so-optimal for agility users. That being said, all three rogue specs, enhancement shamans, and kitties would get the best use, while Fury warriors would be all over it for their static ratings.
You ever played a melee class before?
Sean Jan 7th 2011 3:57PM
Strength provides some benefit to Enhance Shamans, but it's not something we go looking for. I wouldn't roll Need on the Right Eye unless I needed the hit. And then only if nobody else wanted it.

"Strength provides some benefit to Enhance Shamans"
Are you sure? It was my understanding that the only agility class that gets ANY benefit from strength since 4.0 was feral druids; rogues, shaman, and meleeing hunters no longer get any attack power from strength.
Admittedly, it's not like I've done any real research on these classes since the mechanics changes.
Herman Jan 7th 2011 4:54PM
all the same classes that can get a benefit from the claws of torment and agony.
Zanathos Jan 7th 2011 5:01PM
Druids get 2 AP per point of strength, as do warriors, paladins, and DKs, making strength a good stat for them, though most prefer agility. Shamans and rogues only get 1 AP per point of strength, so they do get some benefit from it but it's a very inferior stat compared to agility.
Nopunin10did Jan 7th 2011 5:04PM
For enhancement shamans, strength is beneficial, but it was correctly stated that it's not something we should aim for.
1 Strength = 1 Attack Power (which in turn equals some amount of spellpower).
It's something. It's just not that great when you compare it to any other relevant stat. Even intellect tends to be better, as it provides both spellpower and crit.
There are much better trinkets than the Right Eye, though. The trickier items are Claws of Torment and Claws of Agony... which are meant to be a Str/Agi paired set.

Why does that expertise trinket proc off ranged attacks, but Schnotzz's Medallion of Command only procs off melee?
