I have felt the pain and annoyance of gemming my moonkin with the CSD and it stinks. One question that I could use confirmation on, do gems such as Purified Demoneye count as BOTH a red and blue gem? OR as a purple gem? I believe these kinds of gems count as both - but wanted to confirm.
Also why would you use a green gem with hit on it, when instead you could get one with spirit since spirit provides more benefits than straight hit?

Multi-color gems count as both colors. Purple is blue and red, green is yellow and blue, and orange is red and yellow.
Spirit actually doesn't provide any additional benefit than hit. Yes, it can give you out of combat mana regeneration, but that's fairly pointless. Hit or spirit, they are the same stat. Favor spirit because it allows for easier gear switching to restoration, but otherwise it doesn't matter.

Tyler, doesn't hit technically effect your treants while spirit does not?
Regardless, I'm going with spirit for my resto offspec :)
