The Queue: Dances with cats

I don't know about the rest of you nerds, but I had every Calvin and Hobbes book when I was a kid, and I was pumped as heck to get the hardcover box set. You know, the one that weighs like 50 pounds.
Necrosaro asked:
So I was wandering through Ghostlands yesterday, and I was wondering, why can't I fly there? Did Blizzard redesign all of the old world except for the old-world BC areas? Being forced to ride at 100% speed is really annoying.
Ghostlands is technically part of the Outland map set (530, where Kalimdor is 0 and Eastern Kingdoms is 1), along with the other BC starting areas. It just doesn't appear that any BC content was touched, probably due to time constraints. Silvermoon City and the Exodar likely weren't meant to be flown in or around, though I can't speak for Blizzard.
Antonia asked:
I've got a question ... Where are the questions that warrant more than one-sentence answers?
Not every answer I give has to be long-winded. Adding extra words doesn't make an answer more effective; it just makes it longer. If a question merits a longer answer, then it'll certainly receive one.
If your question is an indictment of the process by which I choose which questions to answer, then all I can really say is you'll have to deal with it, for I am naught but a capricious zephyr.
Shamit asked:
Why is there not a jewelcrafter daily quest in Stormwind or Orgrimmar? It's ridiculous to have to boat back to Northrend and fly to Dalaran just to complete a simple quest for a token.
There are jewelcrafting daily quests available in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, but they don't kick in until 475 skill. They'll be right by your city's jewelcrafting trainer.
Brandon Lincoln asked:
Speaking of Jaina ... I haven't seen her in the storylines yet ... Is she just ruling over Theramore, or is she involved with something I have missed?
While it's clear that something was supposed to happen with Dustwallow Marsh, it unfortunately remains unchanged since BC. The Theramore Highway and the road littered with Grimtotem corpses has no leadup, and the quests make no sense in the context of the previous zones and Cataclysm's world changes. I'm sure that Jaina (or Theramore in general) was supposed to be doing something. It just never seems to have happened.
Remus asked:
Before the WoW TCG moved away from Upper Deck, I think I managed to get a collection of UDE points from all those annoying yellow cards in the booster packs. But now that the TCG has moved away to another company, are all those points basically useless?
They are 100% useless.

Agreed on both. I begged for both of the massive books for Christmas but no luck. /cry I just about died of the cool when I saw both of those books, side-by-side, at the store.

I like Dilbert, too. But not for that reason. Is that even a real comic strip or did someone else make that?
Noyou Jan 8th 2011 2:00PM
I have a Calvin and Hobbes tattoo so I approve :)
MusedMoose Jan 8th 2011 2:28PM
Agreed. I *still* have all the Calvin and Hobbes books, they're on my bookshelf right now. Less than 10 feet away... I really should reread those sometime. ^_^

I got that mega hard cover set. Three massive books filled with pure unbridled Calvin and Hobbs EPIC.

I have the complete collection of Far Side comics and will read them from time to time. The humor is ingenues in that with just single picture a whole story is told. I don't think Larson is truly recognized by the art community at large for the Master he is which is a shame.
Maymer Jan 8th 2011 5:34PM
a-HEM! *looks at his own personal picture* as you can see, me and calvin and hobbes are kinda close XD
aforestdarkly Jan 8th 2011 5:47PM

Hey Maymer, I would have sworn that was a lobster claw!
Reklisc Jan 8th 2011 10:21PM
What?!?!
How can you at least not give "Get Fuzzy" a 2?
Sleutel Jan 9th 2011 2:27AM
@Reklisc:
Get Fuzzy *was* funny. Past tense. Calvin & Hobbes *remained* funny and relevant for its entire 10-year run, and Watterson stepped away while it was still good rather than run it into the ground for the sake of milking it for more income.

you might want to check out bizzaro by pirarro - he is quite funny, in a zany far side way.
Gribs Jan 9th 2011 8:32AM
I also got the hard cover set. I already owned all but three of the books anyway, but my wonderful wife surprised me with it a year or two ago at Christmas. My favorite comic ever, if only cause I can relate to Calvin. That was me as a five year old.
Hairfish Jan 9th 2011 9:37AM
Pearls! I say. Pearls Before Swine!
naughtyzoot Jan 10th 2011 10:59AM
Dead on. And my Calvin & Hobbes tattoo concurs as well :D
redcow Jan 12th 2011 8:58AM
first time asking , i have a female troll druid .. trolls are the best yeah i know , but why the shapeshift for the flying form hasent changed ?
scottsinsel Jan 8th 2011 12:08PM
Calvin and Hobbes is to other comic strips what World of Warcraft is to other MMOs.
Poltergeist Jan 8th 2011 1:19PM
Not to take anything away from Calvin and Hobbes, but the Peanuts is the Godfather of the modern comic strip.
