I don't know about the rest of you nerds, but I had every Calvin and Hobbes book when I was a kid, and I was pumped as heck to get the hardcover box set. You know, the one that weighs like 50 pounds.
Necrosaro asked:
So I was wandering through Ghostlands yesterday, and I was wondering, why can't I fly there? Did Blizzard redesign all of the old world except for the old-world BC areas? Being forced to ride at 100% speed is really annoying.
Ghostlands is technically part of the Outland map set (530, where Kalimdor is 0 and Eastern Kingdoms is 1), along with the other BC starting areas. It just doesn't appear that any BC content was touched, probably due to time constraints. Silvermoon City and the Exodar likely weren't meant to be flown in or around, though I can't speak for Blizzard.
Antonia asked:
I've got a question ... Where are the questions that warrant more than one-sentence answers?
Not every answer I give has to be long-winded. Adding extra words doesn't make an answer more effective; it just makes it longer. If a question merits a longer answer, then it'll certainly receive one.
If your question is an indictment of the process by which I choose which questions to answer, then all I can really say is you'll have to deal with it, for I am naught but a capricious zephyr.
Shamit asked:
Why is there not a jewelcrafter daily quest in Stormwind or Orgrimmar? It's ridiculous to have to boat back to Northrend and fly to Dalaran just to complete a simple quest for a token.
There are jewelcrafting daily quests available in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, but they don't kick in until 475 skill. They'll be right by your city's jewelcrafting trainer.
Brandon Lincoln asked:
Speaking of Jaina ... I haven't seen her in the storylines yet ... Is she just ruling over Theramore, or is she involved with something I have missed?
While it's clear that something was supposed to happen with Dustwallow Marsh, it unfortunately remains unchanged since BC. The Theramore Highway and the road littered with Grimtotem corpses has no leadup, and the quests make no sense in the context of the previous zones and Cataclysm's world changes. I'm sure that Jaina (or Theramore in general) was supposed to be doing something. It just never seems to have happened.
Remus asked:
Before the WoW TCG moved away from Upper Deck, I think I managed to get a collection of UDE points from all those annoying yellow cards in the booster packs. But now that the TCG has moved away to another company, are all those points basically useless?
They are 100% useless.

Agreed on Calvin. But I'd have to say that Pogo seems a bit more influential than Peanuts to modern comics to me. Just an opinion, though. :)
Vladeon Jan 8th 2011 1:43PM
Being the godfather of something doesn't make it better, just older. Calvin and hobbes is a great comic that has a lot of subtle meaning to it. Peanuts is about a depressed kid and his pretentious dog.
Grubba Jan 8th 2011 1:48PM
Godfather it may be (which is probably debatable), but its children have far surpassed it.
Gemini Jan 8th 2011 2:23PM
Ultima Online is the godfather of MMOs. Doesn't mean it's the most popular :)

"Not to take anything away from Calvin and Hobbes, but the Peanuts is the Godfather of the modern comic strip."
I'm having a mental image of Charlie Brown having a Horse's head put in the bed of a rival comic...
Minstrel Jan 8th 2011 3:45PM
I fully agree that Calvin & Hobbes was the greatest comic strip ever. Every time I read it, I'm amazed at how many levels it's brilliant on.
Peanuts is definitely on the list of best comics ever, along with Pogo and Bloom County.

Glad to see Bloom County mentioned!
But I have to vote with the Peanuts crowd.

Being the godfather of something is about being the necessary predecessor or inspiration of something, which Calvin and Hobbes' creator acknowledges. I wouldn't discount the the Peanuts on the basis of thinking that that great comic doesn't also have it's own subtle levels. For starters, there's the monotony of the new suburbia, cold war malaise, the triumph of commercial values, the emergence of psychology into pop culture, and explorations of grief in, of all places, a four-panel comic strip. Take Calvin & Hobbes off their Ritalin and Zoloft for a week and -- BAM -- you're right back to the world of the Peanuts *sigh* Now please go do the Snoopy dance.

When do you think Blizzard will release the BoA legs and the other BoA Rings?
http://www.wowhead.com/item=62025
Basoiche Jan 8th 2011 12:18PM
They are linked to guild achievements for the Legs. The BOA Ring is a reward from winning the fishing contest in Dal.
As for the level, I think the legs are Guild Level 15 - not totally sure, I know the cloaks are 10.
Kay Jan 8th 2011 1:41PM
I haven't seen them before, but the legs are not linked to the Guild level or achievements at this time. Cloaks unlock at level 10(tomorrow for me), helms at level 20. For now I would imagine the legs and rings will be available for some sort of daily tokens from some later content. Hyjal tokens perhaps.
Eric Jan 8th 2011 1:58PM
I know cloaks are ten and helms are 20, but I have no clue about any leggings.

Why was Alterac Valley left out of the rated BG's? I was really looking forward to it, and was very disappointed when it didn't happen.
And while we're at it, do you think Blizzard will ever revamp AV in some way? A bit of tweaking and tinkering with the old turn in quests would be nice.
Basoiche Jan 8th 2011 12:23PM
I couldn't find the specific blue post, but they said shortly before the seasons tarted that they were restricting the Rated BG play to 15 or less, which left out a 25 v 25 AV. If memory serves me correctly their justification was something along the lines of the difficulty of setting up a 25 man rated bg.
N-train Jan 8th 2011 12:31PM
I haven't done any rated Bgs, but I believe you need a premade group to participate. Throwing together 10 or 15 people isn't tough, 40 people just seems like too much. Even if you did manage to get 40 people and queue up, I imagine the chances of having *another* 40 man opposite faction group that just happened to be queuing at a similar time is pretty small. Seems like its just impractical.
Hih Jan 8th 2011 6:18PM
They felt that 25 man rated BGs just had too great a people requirement different from the 10s and 15s that most groups would just end up skipping rated BGs for the 25s week.
Christopher Perkins Jan 8th 2011 12:09PM
In Thrallmar on Hellfire, they still reference the Warchief as being Thrall, not Garrosh.
I suppose they just haven't gotten the message yet?
Cinate Jan 8th 2011 12:22PM
BC content is still set in the past as is Northrend. This has been stated before. Blizzard also said they will go back and update both zones at some point.
