I don't know about the rest of you nerds, but I had every Calvin and Hobbes book when I was a kid, and I was pumped as heck to get the hardcover box set. You know, the one that weighs like 50 pounds.
Necrosaro asked:
So I was wandering through Ghostlands yesterday, and I was wondering, why can't I fly there? Did Blizzard redesign all of the old world except for the old-world BC areas? Being forced to ride at 100% speed is really annoying.
Ghostlands is technically part of the Outland map set (530, where Kalimdor is 0 and Eastern Kingdoms is 1), along with the other BC starting areas. It just doesn't appear that any BC content was touched, probably due to time constraints. Silvermoon City and the Exodar likely weren't meant to be flown in or around, though I can't speak for Blizzard.
Antonia asked:
I've got a question ... Where are the questions that warrant more than one-sentence answers?
Not every answer I give has to be long-winded. Adding extra words doesn't make an answer more effective; it just makes it longer. If a question merits a longer answer, then it'll certainly receive one.
If your question is an indictment of the process by which I choose which questions to answer, then all I can really say is you'll have to deal with it, for I am naught but a capricious zephyr.
Shamit asked:
Why is there not a jewelcrafter daily quest in Stormwind or Orgrimmar? It's ridiculous to have to boat back to Northrend and fly to Dalaran just to complete a simple quest for a token.
There are jewelcrafting daily quests available in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, but they don't kick in until 475 skill. They'll be right by your city's jewelcrafting trainer.
Brandon Lincoln asked:
Speaking of Jaina ... I haven't seen her in the storylines yet ... Is she just ruling over Theramore, or is she involved with something I have missed?
While it's clear that something was supposed to happen with Dustwallow Marsh, it unfortunately remains unchanged since BC. The Theramore Highway and the road littered with Grimtotem corpses has no leadup, and the quests make no sense in the context of the previous zones and Cataclysm's world changes. I'm sure that Jaina (or Theramore in general) was supposed to be doing something. It just never seems to have happened.
Remus asked:
Before the WoW TCG moved away from Upper Deck, I think I managed to get a collection of UDE points from all those annoying yellow cards in the booster packs. But now that the TCG has moved away to another company, are all those points basically useless?
They are 100% useless.

None of Outlands or Northrend has been updated. Basically, you live in a post-cataclysm world, then go back in time to defeat the Burning Legion, go a little forward in time to defeat the Lich King, and finally catch up to where you had been 20 levels earlier to round it all out in the new zones.

Burning Crusade content is, like Wrath content, essentially in the past, in context to Cata.
A lot of stuff doesn't make sense if you try and actually think of the whole storyline as going from Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor -> Outland -> Northrend -> Cataclysm zones.
Nawaf Jan 8th 2011 12:31PM
So I guess you want to change it's name to Garroshmar?
gandar54 Jan 8th 2011 12:35PM
When you travel to Outland, you are essentially going back in time to the burning crusade. So when you go to Outland, technically Thrall is still warchief, Illidan is still alive and none of the events that conspire during BC and Wrath have happened yet. This is a problem that has only worsened since cataclysm. Since now as a level 1 character you are in, pulling numbers out of the air here, year 20 wow time. Then when you venture into Outland you go back to year 10 WT, then northrend year 15 WT, and then back to year 20 WT after level 80.

BC content wasnt touched AT ALL, heck even the outland "servers" are still running old stuff.
My reasoning?
I had something like 2600 quests completed on counter due old world removing most of them, I got it very high after doing most of the new zones.
Now, while leveling profession or so I went to outland and BAM 3000 quests completed achievement, gz me and so forth. Confusion ensured.
They are still counting to old "removed" quests inside outland due some odd reason they are still on their database as their old versions but not cata world servers.
I foresee this getting fixed but not very fast since it is rather long time to get it fixed proper I would assume, but be quick if you wish to get that or others that you didnt have time to get like that 3k quests. Yeah, its little cheesing but I personally would've done them anyway and going to outland and getting was "accident"

"It just doesn't appear that any BC content was touched, probably due to time constraints."
I'm guessing that's why.
Aarcial Jan 8th 2011 3:02PM
Outland exists in a different pocket of time. Everyone in Thallmar lives as if we've just opened the Dark Portal, Illidan is still alive, and Arthas is still the sleepy Lich King.

"I was reading a book and the villian died at the end, but I went back to chapter two and he was still alive! What's up with that?" o.O

Was Inception just a dream?

Definitely maybe.

To answer your question correctly, we must. . . go deeper.
Iano Jan 8th 2011 1:58PM
That's the whole point- NO PROOF!
This is true even in real life- every night, you go into a dreamland (REM sleep virtually always has the characteristic brain activity associated with dreaming- you're dreaming much, much more often than you remember dreaming)- and ostensibly, you could be going to and living in another world each time you go to sleep- returning there as your dreams an mind persist. Perhaps, in this other world, there are people who depend on you, a job you're holding down, and only in the very rarest cases do you even suspect you are dreaming.
Please don't go kill yourself to wake yourself up. I'd like to take this moment to express my belief that what we're up to right now is reality. :)
Once you know enough about the brain and its functions, there's no going back- you kinda just have to -pick- which universe delivered to your physical senses is real, and run with it. A leap of faith, of sorts. :)

Capricious zephyr? I was just thinking about my shitty Zephyr I had when I was 17. Not even 8 hrs ago. Mere coincidence? I think not. And Calvin and Hobbes; I love them. Have not gotten the omnibus box set as of yet. Would be nice though.
