I don't know about the rest of you nerds, but I had every Calvin and Hobbes book when I was a kid, and I was pumped as heck to get the hardcover box set. You know, the one that weighs like 50 pounds.
Necrosaro asked:
So I was wandering through Ghostlands yesterday, and I was wondering, why can't I fly there? Did Blizzard redesign all of the old world except for the old-world BC areas? Being forced to ride at 100% speed is really annoying.
Ghostlands is technically part of the Outland map set (530, where Kalimdor is 0 and Eastern Kingdoms is 1), along with the other BC starting areas. It just doesn't appear that any BC content was touched, probably due to time constraints. Silvermoon City and the Exodar likely weren't meant to be flown in or around, though I can't speak for Blizzard.
Antonia asked:
I've got a question ... Where are the questions that warrant more than one-sentence answers?
Not every answer I give has to be long-winded. Adding extra words doesn't make an answer more effective; it just makes it longer. If a question merits a longer answer, then it'll certainly receive one.
If your question is an indictment of the process by which I choose which questions to answer, then all I can really say is you'll have to deal with it, for I am naught but a capricious zephyr.
Shamit asked:
Why is there not a jewelcrafter daily quest in Stormwind or Orgrimmar? It's ridiculous to have to boat back to Northrend and fly to Dalaran just to complete a simple quest for a token.
There are jewelcrafting daily quests available in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, but they don't kick in until 475 skill. They'll be right by your city's jewelcrafting trainer.
Brandon Lincoln asked:
Speaking of Jaina ... I haven't seen her in the storylines yet ... Is she just ruling over Theramore, or is she involved with something I have missed?
While it's clear that something was supposed to happen with Dustwallow Marsh, it unfortunately remains unchanged since BC. The Theramore Highway and the road littered with Grimtotem corpses has no leadup, and the quests make no sense in the context of the previous zones and Cataclysm's world changes. I'm sure that Jaina (or Theramore in general) was supposed to be doing something. It just never seems to have happened.
Remus asked:
Before the WoW TCG moved away from Upper Deck, I think I managed to get a collection of UDE points from all those annoying yellow cards in the booster packs. But now that the TCG has moved away to another company, are all those points basically useless?
They are 100% useless.

**would ETA but there's no edit..
Although I like the fact there are more flights in lowbie zones and larger zones, the fact that there are no less than EIGHT flights in Eastern Plaguelands is just a little crazy. Now I can't remember if they're all neutral, or if only some of them are.. I just remember that each of the towers has its own.. and one at the border of WPL/EPL (though I think that one has been there).

I suppose since the whole incident at the end of the Battle for the Undercity, I'd be surprised if they let Jaina do anything... :P
icepyro Jan 8th 2011 2:55PM
One thing to consider, in the timeline Battle for the Undercity is actually one of her first appearances in Northrend. So as if that wasn't bad enough, she invited Thrall and Garrosh to a meeting that already had Varian inside. I'm not sure of any other involvement until her escort through the ICC dungeons, but still that side entrance was a failure too and stirred many emotions for her.
Yeah, I think she needs a break to collect herself. Take care of the homeland first, Jaina. Let the shaman take care of this one.
poggg Jan 9th 2011 2:43AM
Actually, from what I've been hearing, the Horde version of the ICC 5 mans is the canon, so Jaina never went into the Halls of Reflection.

"It just doesn't appear that any BC content was touched, probably due to the fact Blizzard doesn't give half a shit about draenei or blood elves fitting into the present storyline."
Fixed that one for you. And I know I'll get downranked by the hordes, as usual, never mind that it's TRUE and neither race has a single thing to do with anything in Cataclysm. Oh, wait, you see Nobundo in one TH cutscene that...isn't even really something that's happening.
A+ Blizz.
Teliko Jan 8th 2011 12:46PM
Blood Elves fit in, they run the Horde version of the Explorer's League.
bobalobabingbong Jan 8th 2011 12:52PM
You're getting down ranked as usual cause you ask for it, and wrong.
Eldoron Jan 8th 2011 12:52PM
Haters gonna hate
Aurilia Jan 8th 2011 12:55PM
Not completely true.
Blood Elves are the Archaeology "race" for the Horde. They show up in some remade classic zone quest chains that involve a digsite.
Can't speak for the space goats except the presence of Draenei archaeology digsites in Outlands.
But beyond that, yes, it does appear Blizzard has difficulty keeping all the races involved in an expansion storyline, and seem to focus on the original 8 races. Grim news indeed for those that enjoy their Worgen and Goblins, as after Cataclysm concludes it could be years before those races are again relevant.
jealouspirate Jan 8th 2011 1:00PM
Blood Elves have some (albeit minor) involvement. Draenei on the other hand, I think have a single small quest chain in Swamp of Sorrows, and that's it.
As far as the Alliance goes, it seems that Blizzard thinks of them as Human, Dwarf and Night Elf. Everyone else is just along for the ride.
Also, Kia, I think you get downvoted so much because of the "I know all you dumb people will vote me down" kind of statements. Insulting everyone who read your comments isn't very endearing.
Luci Jan 8th 2011 1:17PM
The draenei are majorly involved in the Earthen Ring operations....
Darasen Jan 8th 2011 1:40PM
I must ask, who cares? Is there some sort of equal opportunity for fictional races clause? Does there have to be a quest quota so no one get offended?
Kurash Jan 8th 2011 1:41PM
Another cheerful message brought to us by Kia!
VioletArrows Jan 8th 2011 2:47PM
@Darasen: No, but nobody likes to see their favorite race get left behind, so to speak. Unfortunately those goofy blue space draknid-goat-crystal-people- have wound up being the only way I can stand the Alliance (human-boring, dwarf-short human, gnome-even shorter human, nelf-lanky purple human, worgen-don't like dogs). And then to see things like Forest Song, Hinterlands (the ambassador says some of them have moved there, but you don't see anyone but him), and Wrynn's ambassador shuffled off to a side room with no plot development... their lowbie content *is* kinda lacking.
Eldoron Jan 8th 2011 12:49PM
"Why are is there not a Jewelcrafter daily quest in Stormwind or Orgrimmar?"
Wow, grammar ftw.
Also, where have those people been who ask things that has been known for, like, a year? Like the first question

I'd like to introduce you to Mr. Kettle.

Also on another disappointing note to Shamit who has been laboriously commuting between EK and northrend: Those JC tokens are only good for the OLD JC patterns. Decent XP still for the dailies if you are leveling but they can't buy you squat for Cata recipes. Sorry man. Hate to be the one to tell you. I do think it was kind of crappy the way they did JC though. The one token thing as the sole way of learning new designs after a certain level. not cool. It would be neat if at some point they put in more detailed dailies for all crafting professions. But then I guess people would QQ about that.
Covert7 Jan 8th 2011 12:52PM
Why are Cata level common (green) gems worth more gold to a vendor than the rare gems? If I remember correctly a green gem vendors for 5g but the blues vedor for 3g.
Just seems pretty weird...
Eldoron Jan 8th 2011 12:58PM
You need the green ones for the prism
Vladeon Jan 8th 2011 1:53PM
Vendor prices are determined by item level, item type, and quality. It's possible that the reason they vendor more is because of an item level mishap. A lot if items remained i-level 80 while others where dropped to ilevel 1. In any case its probably an oversight and will be fixed in 4.0.6.
