New Ironforge and Undercity mugs available from Taverncraft

Last month saw the release of some new designs from Taverncraft in the form of stoneware mugs, Stormwind for the Alliance and Orgrimmar for the Horde. It looks like these were just the beginning, as Taverncraft has just released two new city-based mugs. Both designs feature the artwork of James Zhang, known for his work with the WoW TCG game, and each mug is microwavable, dishwasher-safe and holds 18 ounces of liquid.
While the Ironforge mug is available for immediate shipment, fans of Sylvanas will have to wait a little while; the Undercity mugs will be available for shipment in March. Here's hoping this is a sign we'll see all of the Horde and Alliance capitals featured throughout the year! You can order the mugs through Taverncraft's website for $19.99 each.

FOR THE DWARVES!
...ahem. See, the Alliance just needs to figure out who the baddest people in the faction are and do everything for them.

Exactly what I've been saying all along. :)

Okay more fucking mugs. Where's the ui of the week?
gundamxzero Jan 10th 2011 8:19PM
If these were glass I would dig these. They just look so tacky in plastic.
Ziggie Jan 10th 2011 8:46PM
Stoneware not plastic reading is cool.
MusedMoose Jan 10th 2011 8:46PM
Seconded. A sturdy glass mug with something appropriately dwarven etched onto it, or even if the mug was plain but had that hammer-shaped handle? I'd buy that and play my dwarf more. ^_^ These just look... I dunno, kind of cheesy.

"Last month saw the release of some new designs from Taverncraft in the form of STONEWARE MUGS"
(emphasis mine)

Also from the site itself...
· Massive stoneware mug holds 18oz of you favorite hot beverage.
· Handcraft from superior quality fine-grain stoneware.
(It should be "Handcrafted" however, but...)

Ok, I should have said, "looks like plastic" They dont look very "epic" or impressive
Anne Stickney Jan 10th 2011 9:24PM
They are stoneware, very sturdy - I got one of the Orgrimmar mugs for Christmas. Not only does it hold an -obscene- amount of coffee, I could easily knock someone out with it. :D Which of course means it's quality stoneware.
MusedMoose Jan 10th 2011 9:31PM
I went to the site to take a closer look, since I too missed that these are stoneware, not plastic. Eh heh heh. The mugs do look better in the larger view, yet somehow... not quite what I'd expect.
Okay, here's my issue: they look like ceramics, and that to me says "Fragile." Of all the words to describe a *dwarven* mug, "FRAGILE" should never be on the list! A dwarven mug should look like you can use it in a barfight, as a weapon or a shield, and never have to worry about it breaking! It should look like it holds more than any being should be able to drink and still walk away from the table without hitting the ground before they reach the door! It should look like it was carved straight out of stone!
...yes, I think dwarves are awesome and should be properly represented. @_@ Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go shave off the beard I spontaneously grew during this rant.
MusedMoose Jan 10th 2011 9:33PM
And it seems Ms. Stickney's post, which happened while I was ranting, has invalidated my entire rant.
...fittingly enough, I need a drink.

They do look like plastic in the photos at first blush, but the shine on the bottom of the Ironforge mug is a dead giveaway that they're glazed stoneware. I still prefer the epic pricey molded mugs (I'd love to be gifted a Blood of the Horde one) but for $20 you can't expect something that intricate.
Plus I'd be afraid to ever drink from a $100 mug. For $20, it's something I'd actvely use.
Now, to wait for a TB mug to be made! *sits expectantly*

For the Dark Lady.
Dreyja Jan 10th 2011 8:54PM
I broke my budget getting the Murloc stein and the Tankard of Terror recently. Dangit... now I REALLY want the dwarf mug!
greenthumbs Jan 10th 2011 9:18PM
Are they any good? I'd shell out for an Undercity mug if the photos didn't make them look so plastic.
Dreyja Jan 10th 2011 10:03PM
They are truly awesome. The Tankard of Terror really is the Mace of beer mugs. ;)
I think it's just that these ones are white that people get a plastic-vibe from them. They are far from it. This is really good, solid stoneware. The photos don't do them justice.
The price is awesome for what you're getting if you can measure from their other stuff.

I saw "New Ironforge and Undercity"I was really hoping the second half of the title was "... design/texture overhauls to be implemented in 4.0.6".
Tokkar Jan 11th 2011 2:40PM
NOOOOOOO...thanks to the 85's on their gigantomounts hanging out everywhere just to look cool, IF/UC are the only cities I can still move around in without lag!
Yes, I DO need a more powerful machine. The problem is that I don't have the $1500+ of disposable income thanks to rent, food, electricity, internet, transportation and other such "inconsequential" fees eating my bank account, so for the mean time...leave IF/UC alone? Please? Either that or fix your pathetic rendering engine that I used to get 65fps with? Are you listening, Blizzard? No?
/sigh
(moves all sliders to minimum setting and heads to Orgrimmar)
RetPallyJil Jan 10th 2011 9:51PM
Gonna buy an Undercity, just to smash it.
TAKE THAT, ZOMBIES!
