I'm an officer of my current guild and have been on the verge of leaving for one reason alone: the members of the guild.Conversely, the reason I stay? The members of the guild.Lack of participation from non-officers (but frequently also officers) can be as heartbreaking as it is frustrating when the same people are constantly at you to make changes for their benefit ... multiply that by however many guild members you have and it can be quite crushing at times. It would do my guild the world of good to have more people who are trustworthy and reliable become officers or even just take more on board to help the officers help *their* experience of the game, but sadly most players are inclined to only do things that help themselves and if they don't get what they want in a heartbeat they're gone. The exceptions are marvels and I have a lot of respect from GMs and fellow officers no matter how big or small their guilds are.
