The Daily Quest: The grinding of gears

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
I don't know what it is about the color purple, but people go nuts over the stuff. Back in vanilla, I didn't so much care about the purple part of things as much as I did what it looked like -- the sparklier, the better. This is before I realized Benediction was essentially the priest "come kill me first!" glowing stick of certain death when it came to PvP. Today we've got some posts from around the blogosphere that have less emphasis on the shiny and more on the useful aspects of gearing up.
- The Inconspicuous Bear talks about gearing from regulars to heroics to raiding for inconspicuous bear tanks.
- Kurn's Corner has a handy loot list that gives holy paladins an idea of what to look for in potential purples.
- Life in Group 5 has a similar shopping list, only with restoration shaman in mind.
- And completely off topic but worth reading, Achtung Panzercow is wondering why people roll on RP servers when they have absolutely no intention of roleplaying at all?

I have often wondered why people with no connections to other players will choose to roll a new toon on a roleplaying server. Aside from the ever present trolls "LAWL U RPERZ SUX", and the people who follow a friend there, what's the point?

Better class of people to play with (trolls aside, of course). Or at the very least, a lack of annoying character names like "Upchüknôris" or whatever.

Probably think it's less crowded, more laid back, and they can easily lord over rp'ers (lol, they're too busy walking around in costumes to raid). Then they get there and it's not true.

I rolled on an RP server so I could see what it was like. I imagine that wasn't a unique train of thought.

Since it fits the theme, I would like to add that I recently wrote up a list on my blog of gear for druids that they can get without entering an instance, a sort of "pre-normals" or "skipping normals" guide. It has entries for all specs.

My very first epic was a drop off of the lich in Stratholme. So there's me, a very manly Orc Warlock, wearing a very non-manly purple dress because the stats were good. Rock on.
I actually had a post that was more about yesterday's Daily Quest topic, but here it is nonetheless: "Dungeon Finder and YOU!"

Enjoy!
