The Queue: My pet is adorable too

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
Mat and Gray aren't the only ones with adorable pets. I can play that game, too! Look at that Roomba up there. It's so cute, what with its glowing cycloptic eye, its massive, unyielding grin and its manic, electronic chittering. Just adorable.
lazymangaka asked:
What is the most efficient way to grind guild reputation?
If running instances as a guild is an option for you, that seems to be the best way. Downing heroic bosses gives a righteous chunk of guild reputation, and if you have a solid group, you can get capped for the week in one or two nights of playing.
If you're looking to accrue reputation while playing solo, just go questing. If you already have Cataclysm Loremaster, tackle daily quests. I always boggled at the idea of doing 25 daily quests per day in The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King; there was no way in hell I was going to do 25 of those in one day, but sometimes I do it without trying in Cataclysm. The daily quests in this expansion are extremely fast, especially if you hit the Tol Barad quests with a friend or two.
Drob10 asked:
Why do I hate cats so much?
Because you are a blight on all peoples everywhere.
RotcGamer09 asked:
Does WoW Insider have an official IRC channel?
No. We don't have an IRC channel, and we don't have any chat channel at all for the general audience. We do use Campfire internally to coordinate the team, and sometimes we'll open that up to the public on very special occasions, but that doesn't happen very often. It's extremely important to our team's workflow that our chat channel isn't a madhouse. There are so many of us on staff nowadays that when things really get hot, like patch days, we have to shunt all of the non-work chatter to a different channel so it doesn't interrupt the people actually working.
We've kicked around the idea of a WoW Insider IRC channel a few times, but it isn't an idea that got a lot of traction. It would be fun to have, but the senior editors on the site can already spend 12+ hours per day on the site. The idea of adding chat channel moderation onto our daily to-do list is absolutely terrifying.
It's a fun idea, and deep down, I would love for such a channel to exist, but it probably isn't going to happen in any official capacity until days last longer than 24 hours.
Visionary asked:
What is the best tavern in Azeroth?
Whatever the one in the Dwarven Quarter of Stormwind is called, because setting your hearth to the Trade District's inn is for losers.
Coleur asked:
I heard from a guildmate that the sea turtle mount could now be fished up from any Northrend or Cataclysm fishing pool. Can you confirm/deny this?
According to the information I've been reading on El's Anglin', you can indeed catch the sea turtle in Cataclysm fishing pools. It seems you can also catch the Tome of Polymorph: Turtle in Cataclysm fishing pools.
Grovinofdarkhour asked:
Catherine Zeta-Jones or Salma Hayek?
Salma Hayek. I'm not sure there's an appropriate way for me to elaborate on my answer, so I'll just leave that there.

Hey y'all, I am a goblin you see, but I don't want a silly crab as my hunting pet. What are some pets that you think partner well with a Goblin Hunter's awesomeness?
Marluxia.Kyoshu Jan 12th 2011 11:15AM
On my goblin hunter, I find that only exoskeletal creatures match well with the 'roughness' that is a Goblin.
I use a Spider, personally, but that's because my Goblin is devoted to Sylvanas and the Royal Apothecary Society.
RogueJedi86 Jan 12th 2011 11:19AM
Marluxia, since your goblin is dedicated to Lady Sylvanas and the Royal Apothecary Society, why don't you take a sip of this Plague and join her cause for real? It won't hurt for long. :)

How about a mastif? I can see goblins having "guard dogs."
Either that, or a boar, since pigs can be trained to sniff out truffles (or in a goblin's case, other underground valuables).
Josin Jan 12th 2011 11:30AM
Chromaggus. I dunno why, but it just seems to fit.
Matheus314 Jan 12th 2011 11:39AM
Crocolisks. They are like big crawling goblins.
Samutz Jan 12th 2011 11:39AM
I rolled a goblin hunter to be my new bank alt. I soon as I was able, I tamed one of the green dinos on Lost Isles and named him Dinero.
Kunikenwad! Jan 12th 2011 11:41AM
Clearly, only a monkey can match the tomfoolery and zaniness of a goblin hunter.
Tim {the other Tim} Jan 12th 2011 11:43AM
All of you are racist.
Cyrus Jan 12th 2011 11:44AM
My goblin hunter is named Normanozzie, so he's definitely going to get a spider pet ASAP.

Anything edible. Time is money, after all, and efficiency is #1 - and what's more efficient than a pet that you can turn into lunch in an emergency?
Better yet, give it a name to name it after food, just to remind it that its time is limited should it fail at its pet-ly duties.
- Turtle? Name it Soup.
- Boar? Name it Bacon, Porkchops, or Ribs.
- Crab? How about Rangoon?
- Parrot? Drumsticks! (Okay, I'm really reaching here.) A parrot would also be great for that whole tropical theme they have going on.

I agree with Kuni. Rude special attack, and plenty of terrible " my monkey" jokes.
Grovinofdarkhour Jan 12th 2011 12:05PM
If we're going by personality, either a hyena, or a carrion bird.
But if you're into the pets-that-look-like-their-owners thing, get yourself a warp stalker. It's all in the face. Eerily so.
trefpoid Jan 12th 2011 12:25PM
U should have tamed one of those crazy monkeys on the Lost Isles. They are extremely good in pvp thanks to the bad manner bug. Sadly, it will be fixed in the next patch. Enjoy while u can!!
Thorzon Jan 12th 2011 1:15PM
A devilsaur is the only option for a Goblin Hunter's pet.
Nookni Jan 12th 2011 2:09PM
I would have to agree, while I loved the Devilsaur (colour changing FTW) is a good choice beyond the crab, My goblin had a great Ravager from Bloodmyst by the time he hit lvl 12. Don't plan on that pet changing out anytime soon, other than for "necessary" party buffs in guild leveling dungeons, but still tend to default to my Ravager there too.
Didaxical Jan 12th 2011 3:10PM
My Goblin hunter is sticking with his pet crab, "PennyPincher."
Alchemistmerlin Jan 12th 2011 4:15PM
Time is Monkey, friend.
wait...
Maribel Jan 12th 2011 10:10PM
I can't believe I didn't remember this one till now - my plan was to tame a pink strider and name it LawnOrnament. Ordinarily that wouldn't work on an RP server, but goblins have pink flamingo lawn ornaments!
Aubrey Jan 12th 2011 11:04AM
I love Roombas, I was thinking about getting one awhile back.
