We've featured videos from Beebles before now, which makes Beebles Goes Home a kind of sad reunion. Why sad, you ask? Because in this video, the eponymous Beebles returns to Kalimdor after successfully fighting the Lich King in Northrend. But when he steps his feathered foot in his homeland, he sees that there is no home to return to.
Beebles Goes Home is a fairly pretty video, featuring some of the beautiful landscape found in Kalimdor. The plot is straightforward, of course, and the music is suitably haunting to go along with the content. Of course, in the very end, we have an adorable shot of a family of moonkin. It's kind of sad, really. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Me, too. When I first hit the beach and saw the NPCs drowning or floating lifeless, then realized they were some of the same ones I'd talked to before, just a couple days before, it really felt sad.
You can almost hear him saying, "No no no no!" as he's running through what's left of Auberdine, killing the elementals. I guess we all left something of ourselves in Northrend just like Blizzard predicted ... some more than others.
Wow, that got to me. I think the end, when he sits down, is very well done. It's a simple action, but the timing with the music really gives that sense of utter loss. Very nice.
So simple, yet so well done. Make another one! Don't let that skeleton be the end.
Beebles could be under the impression that his family is dead and go off adventuring again. He'd return triumphant from somewhere, to Stormwind. The crowd would part and, just as that one ended, we'd see him see his family. That would be a "what if" ending, with an optimistic twist.
There is actually a follow-up movie to this one, called "in my moonkin life" that picks up around the time where "beebles goes home" left off. I think you would enjoy it. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHpcA-AvXIw
It seems that we can't respond to responses, so I will put a response - to Lissanna - here. Thanks for that one, but it's a reminder. I've already seen that Beebles video - also a very good one. How is it a follow-up? This one has only just been announced (at least on here). I certainly share your enthusiasm for that one and will direct others towards it.
I love the fact that the maker used in game footage and recording instead of just the model viewer or other methods as some people do.
That said, this video kind of tugs on the heartstrings. It didn't help that I had a two year old standing at my elbow. I tend to use him as a gauge for what I watch most of the time, and if it's any good or not. (Generally, he's spot on.)
"What's wrong, Mommy? Where is he going?" "He's trying to find his family. He came home and found his house broken." "That's bad." Then, upon seeing the moonkin ghosts: "Oh! His family! His family is back! He can be happy!" "No, honey. His family are ghosts. They went away and can't come back." "... That's sad! I don't like this no more." *pause* "Again?"
So, this will be saved and put into the youtube bookmarks folder for fodder when the kidlet is bored. But we are very, very sad for Beebles.
I've sent Beebles a message, asking about chronology / time-line of the Beebles videos - as I am curious, so we'll see what the response is. For now, I will direct you to "In My Moonkin Life" - that Lissanna linked: Though I had seen it before this one, it does seem to be a "from the wreckage" type story and is much more positive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHpcA-AvXIw

This video was made before the release of Cataclysm, during The Shattering patch. So no, he couldn't have. :)

Awww! Poor Beebles. I liked it though; gotta respect a guy who uses in-game recording.

So so sad. This is what I think whenever I go to Auberdine. :(
Also, there's another video where Beebles takes care of a moonkin hatchling. So adorable.

There was a certain urgency in the way Beebles ran towards Auberdine combined with the music that affected me.

Thanks Ominous and Lissanna! "In My Moonkin Life" cheered us up a lil' bit, and made us feel a little better for Beebles.

It's a fine video and all, but it takes place in Darkshore, not Ashenvale as the author states.
