The Queue: Animal House
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft.
Animal House is pretty much the best movie ever made.
Some day, I'll write an epic book of my college experiences. I knew a Belushi-like guy in college, and it was some damn good times. I was safely removed from most of their antics, but there was one time when ... aww hell, who am I kidding? I can't tell that story here. I'll save it for our next BlizzCon meetup in 2011.
Let's get on with The Queue.
Aikou asked:
Whats the fastest way to grind Shattered Sun Offensive rep (Besides doing Magisters' Terrace on regular and heroic)? Also, is the title that goes along with this faction still available?
Do the dailies. That's really your best option. It's going to be a grind, but not an ungodly one. The title is still available for purchase, when you hit exalted, for 1,000g.
Riley asked:
Is they any word on when patch 4.0.6 might drop?
I'd be surprised if didn't drop moderately soon. There are a lot of changes, sure, but none of the changes are really the kind that require months of PTR testing.
Neodawg asked:
What's up with the severe lack of 'lock articles lately?
There's a good reason why we haven't had a regular columnist, but I'm not inclined to go into that publicly right now. We have had other writers on staff fill in and will continue to do so as long as we need to.
The other Tim asked:
Hey y'all, I am a goblin you see, but I don't want a silly crab as my hunting pet. What are some pets that you think partner well with a goblin hunter's awesomeness?
Fox and monkey.
GeekyGR asked:
What's your favorite Kevin Bacon movie?
See above. That movie is also my second favorite thing Stephen Furst is in (bonus points for whoever names my favorite thing he's in, without Google or IMDB).

Ahh! Vir!
Babylon 5. Good times.
Obeyfez Jan 13th 2011 11:29AM
Yeah, it's probably Babylon 5, but it should be The Dream Team.

"I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price. I want to look up into your lifeless eyes and wave like this.

While I do love me some Babylon 5, the Scrubs episode where Furst and a bunch of other St Elsewhere alums showed up was epic.
The Angry Intern Jan 13th 2011 12:15PM
Yep, was going to say Babylon 5 as well.
ramireza7 Jan 13th 2011 1:23PM
Furst!

I have nothing of substance to add that hasn't already been said, but I am legally bound to add a reply here under penalty of losing my avatar.

Vir is WIN.
Themock Jan 13th 2011 1:51PM
This is a bold statement, but I think Babylon 5 might be the best sci-fi show ever made. Especially season 1-3. And Vir? The proverbial shiznit.
Ikarus Jan 13th 2011 2:59PM
I disagree. The Best Sifi show every made was the newer version of Battlestar Galactica!
Thyen Jan 14th 2011 7:58AM
Ah, Vir... the moon-faced assassin of joy.
One of my favourite characters from B5.
As for my favourite? Andreas Kastulas, you will be missed...
Brainded Jan 13th 2011 3:27PM
And I was *convinced* that his favorite Stephen Furst movie was "Fox and monkey."
Morcego Jan 13th 2011 3:47PM
I will take B5 over the new Galactica any day. B5 main storyline was defined before they even started shooting the pilot, which is how we can get so much consistency.
On a different note, I will also take Zarthras over Vir. That is a character to remember forever.
Drakkenfyre Jan 13th 2011 4:16PM
Morcego is correct.
Both Battlestar Galatica and Lost shared one thing in common.
The writers didn't know where the hell it was going to go.
They made stuff up on an episode basis. And while this sounds like most TV shows, the writers literally didn't know where to go. They wrote the pilot, then that's it. When the show got picked up, it was basically written off the top of a meeting every episode.
You think (left out) was meant to be a Cylon the whole time? Nope. You think (left out) was meant to die? Nope. You think that (left out) killed (left out) was known ahead? Nope.
That's why you got a weird-ass ending. They wrote themselves into a corner, and had nowhere else to go.
They had a behind the scenes things, and admitted they didn't know where it was going on an episode basis.
Additionally, SciFi is milking it to death. They have two movies based off the series, a spin-off series that failed and was cancelled, and another movie coming out.
And the show had trickle-down effects. They cancelled StarGate: Atlantis to replace it with StarGate: Universe, which was terrible, and was essentially a mix of Battlestar Galatica and Voyager. It also failed, hard, and has now been cancelled. After the next 10 episodes, it's gone.

Although some things in the last season seem tacked on, I don't think the ending is weird. Even though Babylon 5 is most certainly a very good series, I like BSG better, whether they made stuff up as they went or not.
Drakkenfyre Jan 13th 2011 5:32PM
Lasher, I believe the majority of BSG fans went "What the F!@#?" at the ending. I remember after it ended, people on BSG messageboards were going "What the hell happened?", "What was that?", "Explain to me just what the !@#$ was going on."
The ending felt completely made up. And I do mean that in a "made up considering the entire show was scifi and was written on an episode basis."
It wasn't necessarily a terrible ending, it was just odd, very, very odd.
SPOILER.
"You know those people you've suspected this whole time were delusions of the characters, or technological implants to control them? Guess what? THEY'RE ANGELS! And you know how this entire thing was based on their religion, and the show was written as if the Cylons were merely trying to gain religion in a form of copying their creators and dealing with their lot in life? GOD WAS REALLY BEHIND IT ALL! They were right! The religion they preached was right! AND this happens every few millions years! It's going to happen again! And the Cylons will be created again, and turn on their masters again, and create a new race, then they will die, create more Cylons, turn on their masters, create a new race, and start all over again.
Yes, they seemed really out there for what the show was going on about the whole time.
Lasher Jan 13th 2011 6:11PM
Ok, granted. That wasn't what I was thinking about, but you are correct.
rask Jan 17th 2011 3:51AM
Babylon 5 is pretty obvious, so I'm gonna go with another thing I know him from... Tron!
threesixteen Jan 13th 2011 11:03AM
mr. blutarsky! zero point zero.
