It's nearly the one-year anniversary of one of the team's favorite videos: Boom De Yada. I was reminded of this video when sharing it with my young nephew. Sure, he's way too young to get any of the references, but the video is fun, the music is great, and we both loved it.
There's a part of me that hopes Irdeen updates this for Cataclysm. However, there's another part of me that realize the original hit the zeitgeist and funny spot with such perfect accuracy that it might be impossible to follow up successfully. At any rate, the World of Warcraft and Boom De Yada is still just awesome. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at machinima@wow.com.
This made my rather long list of movies I've seen on WoW Insider. This is very different from Blind but in my opinion Boom De Yada is just as good as Blind in it's own right.
So many laugh out loud moments. It's still funny even as we move away from that era. I don't want him to update it for Cata. I want a new one and don't use this song either.
I like this video a lot and it's really well done, but "Music composed by..."?
No. Hoagy Carmichael composed the tune in 1938. It's called "Heart and Soul." At the best, the video's creator can be credited with "Music arranged by" and should've credited the actual composer properly.
My second machinima ever attempted. I thought it was worthy enough to grace WoW Machinima Watch, guess not. Sent it in... three times... :( Anyways, maybe you commenters will like it. Any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. Filmed completely on live servers btw
Maybe I don't know the pure and true definition of machinima, but a music video is probably not what is usually showcased here in this column. Had you original lyrics to go with it, perhaps it would get a shot...
Second point, guild recruitment videos are VERY rarely showcased. Yours is a 5 minute guild recruitment video.
Technical aspects notwithstanding, it's just not what people want to see.

Post world-blowup, this has a rather nostalgic resonance.

A Cataclysm version? Well, who would we have replace Tirion and Darion? Thrall and Dakra?
Gossamer Jan 14th 2011 12:54PM
Hmmm, I must have missed this the first time round, somehow. Very nice.
Nirva Jan 14th 2011 1:39PM
And the 2nd time round, this is now the 3rd me thinks.

Updating it would be total fail in my opinion. Not the least of which because this meme is geriatric by internet standards now.

It was alright, if not a little short. Could have been at least longer by a verse or two.

I know... he could add a final line by Deathwing himself.
*Deathwing chuckles in his metallic deep voice*
"Boom" de yada....

i thought it was a parody of the discover channel song
JT Jan 17th 2011 12:21PM
Aye, so it is, and the Discovery Channel tune is based on "Heart and Soul" as well.

I think this is the 3rd time this has been here in the last 6 months...

Oh how bizarre. I was just looking this video up to show it to my girlfriend, and then went to check wowinsider. One of my favorites.

As much as I like this video, this is the third time it's been posted. Give some new machinimators a chance. Like me! ;)

Mulan. Good.
WoW. Good.
Parody of Mulan? Would have been good.
