By all rights, EVERY class and spec should be "middle of the pack" when it comes to dps. one class shouldn't be inherently better. Why should a well played mage do more dps than a fury warrior, or a hunter more than a rogue when gear and skill of the player are equal? I don't see why some classes get penalized because they can do something besides dps, either. Performance is enhanced by gear and the special abilities so much anyway, it's not like a holy or prot pally could do the same dps as a ret pally just by deciding he wants to dps instead of tank or heal without switching spec and gear.

Wrong for 2 reasons:> All classes should be equally attractive to all players. Fact is some classes are hybrid some pure DPS. If hybrid classes can DPS as well as pure DPS then hybrid classes are too attractive. Why choose a pure DPS class at all? Go hybrid you can do as well as anybody else and btw gear up your DPS by running dungeons as a tank or healer. Pure DPS class should be capable of better DS than a hybrid class. However a substantial component of all DPS should be skill based. So the average hunter will do better DPS than the average ret but the better/best ret pals will do better DPS than the average hunter.> PVP Hybrid classes have an inherent PVP advantage due to damage mitigation/healing skills gained due to their tank/healer role(s). Pure DPS classes need something to balance this and higher DPS is one, natural, way of achieving this.

@ BahzobI've expressed some sentiments of this nature before, but I'm not sure what the solution should be. Yours does sound plausible, but perhaps needs more expanding. Good start though =POn the topic of PvP for pure DPS classes, I'm actually perfectly fine with how things are. I know its weak to use anecdotal evidence, but I never have trouble either holding DPS on bosses or holding my own in PvP. I can be under fire from a mage or a druid and still manage to beat them, and I can be charged by a warrior or ambushed by a rogue and still manage to get away and begin kiting. Sure, I die when I'm hit by more than two or three at once of any class/race combination, but in what I consider a 'fair' fight, I normally come out on top.

There are 3 talent trees. The pure dps classes can have one tree specifically for pvp dps that gives them boosts that cancel out any advantages that a hybrid class would be able to get. They hybrid classes tank or heal runs to gear up anyway, and pure dps classes just run with their guilds to gear up.The QQing about "my class is middle of the pack so it's unplayable" is STILL BS. Unless a geared up mage can't keep up when it's played right, then it is certainly playable. People are just whining because they want to blow other classes out of the water all the time when all things are equal. They shouldn't. There should be, and are, fights where melee is better than ranged or vice-versa, but all thing being equal they should be the same.
