The Daily Quest: Smash it with a hammer
WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
We've been doing a lot of lists of guides to gear, guides to tanking, guides to healing, guides to this, that and the other. How about today we take a look at a few different topics from around the blogosphere covering other topics? Like smashing pygmies with a giant hammer.
- Pink Pigtail Inn delights in smushing pygmies.
- Sylvara from Raging Monkeys has a guest post on World of Matticus -- 10 things she'd rather do than heal PUGs.
- World of Warcraft Philosophized ponders something I've been wondering myself: Where have all the group quests gone?
- Have you checked out Nourish? If you like to cook, the cavalcade of Azeroth-inspired recipes might be right up your alley!

This week at "Tales from the Void", we explored why some of the really frustrated vocal minority might not be raiding yet, or might not be doing well in the era of L2Social WoW.
It might be because they actually... you know.... suck.

I can't be more thrilled that they got rid of group quests in the new Cata content. Now, you can benefit from grouping, but you're not pushed if you can't (outside of the singular exception of Crucible of Carnage). Back in Wrath, I was one of the few people I knew who actually bothered to go back and finish Icecrown once I hit 80; it took me months (literally, months) to find someone to do one particular group quest with, because everybody else was at an earlier stage of phasing. The new zones are so heavily phased, group quests would have been a nightmare.

A thousand times this. I've been leveling alts through Outland, and it seems like every quest chain there ends in a group quest - usually one too tough to solo. And you're never going to find anyone to do it with.

Ack, that should be "you're not puNIshed if you can't." Not "pushed."

I love cooking, and firmly believe in cooking simple wholesome foods. I'll certainly check out nourish but just a quick look seems to show lots of sweets and not much vegetables, hopefully I'm wrong.

I am finding it delightful to heal PUGS.
I see it as a major accomplishment if I can take an undergeared or clueless group under my wing and beat the Heroic.

Got a couple of bits and pieces up recently on Fun in Games that may be of interest, a two-parter on Cataclysm raiding, first part being a general over view, and the second part (here: http://funingames.net/2011/01/raiding-in-cataclysm-part-2-what-makes-an-encounter-click/) querying why people think it is that an encounter can start feeling almost impossible, but after really quite limited exposure, leaps to 'easy' status.
It happens faster than gear alone can account for, it would seem, and has been especially notable in Cataclysm.
The other I think people might be interested in is an in-progress series on setting up a UI and control scheme from scratch for WoW.
Part 1 - Introduction:http://funingames.net/2011/01/building-your-ui-part-1-introduction/
Part 2 - First Addon, Keybinds and Mouse-over Macros: http://funingames.net/2011/01/building-your-ui-part-2-installing-first-addon-keybinds-mouse-over-macros/
Next part is going to go over getting the core of the UI setup and looking neat if not super nice. Part 4 will be about sprucing it up somewhat. Part 5 will come after 4.0.6 hits and detail how to handle a game update.
That's the plan at this point, in any case. It may end up being that Part 3 needs to be split, I'm unsure yet.
In any case, hope it's of interest / use to someone! :)

The video was pretty random, but funny none the less! Emperors new groove XD
Also, here is my blog,
www.ShatteredBeginnings.blogspot.com
The main focus at the moment is following my Worgen Hunter's (Feignheart) adventures leveling up from 1, upon the release of cataclysm. However I have begun branching into other areas now, such as FanFiction. (More information/descriptions on my blog). Have a look if your interested!

Emperor's New Groove rocks. Just recently watched it again for the first time in years.
SMASH IT WITH A HAMMAH! *Crazy maniacal old lady cackle*
Good list of lists. Agreed on the 10 things I'd rather do than heal pugs. More like, 10 things I'd rather do than listen to a bunch of morons try to tell me how to heal them and them yell at me when one of the DPS dies from standing in the puddle of poop ...

New post up at Asilventures regarding why I hate the words "Casual" and "Hardcore" and how they make recruiting mildly more difficult than it already is (at least for me!).
