Wowcrendor's video about auction houses is called, unsurprisingly, How to Win at Auction Houses. This is the day Billy learned that you either get busy living or you get busy gold farming. I don't know what that means, but it was said by Worgen Freeman, so it must be true.
It's always nice to see Billy return to Wowcrendor's videos. I was especially struck by the meta-humor when Billy criticized Wowcrendor's attempt to close the video with an ending the creator had already used elsewhere. Wowcrendor's videos have become surprisingly rich with well-known characters and tropes. It's taken Wowcrendor a while to build up this cast of characters, but that effort seems to be paying off for him. Interested in the wide world of machinima? I admit. I watched it allllllll the way through, waiting for the Go Guy.
He missed out on the folks who list things below their vendor value. And the people who go to the AH first for any sort of gathering quest, meaning they DO buy things like Glasses of Milk and Stormwind Seasoning Herbs.
Weirdly enough, people DO buy odd grey items, if it's funny enough. There are people who collect useless crap in real life, so you're going to find people who collect useless crap in-game. (There are in-game rock collectors. ROCK COLLECTORS.) As a rogue who diligently picks every pocket she sees, I do a thriving business in moderately entertaining useless crap.
I once had one person buy all six copies of A Steamy Romance Novel that I put up. Why? It's not like they all say something different. Another rogue, trying to control the market? Someone shopping for silly gag gifts for hir friends? An officer looking for prizes for a guild event? No idea, but I ain't complaining.
Just sold an unusual compass for a bit over 100g after advertising it in Trade as a "ultra-rare drop from the fishing daily in Northrend - also ... ABSOLUTELY USELESS". I can't decide to *facepalm* or *egmg*.
Easily my favourite part of the video was Billy bringing up the fact the Orgrimmar auction house is completely filled with crates and baskets and whatever else full of food and other, mundane items.
Sure, you could stretch it to be something like warehouse storage for the NPC vendors but still...seems a tad silly.
Another great installment in Crendor's brilliant series. Billy is getting some Chutzpah! If you guys haven't been following his Truth Rage videos, you're missing out. They are hilarious.
Speaking of which...I bought Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Saturday and boy did I Truth Rage when I saw that the game manual was 2 pages. TWO! Not five, not four, not three, TWO! I mean...seriously! Guuuh!
I will never get the people who put absolutely worthless crap on the AH for a ridiculous price.
Scrap of fur? A grey item for 1000g? Unless you are buying gold, hoping to scam someone using Auctioneer, a new player, or hoping someone will be dumb enuf to buy it, you are stupid.
There can be profit in them thar greys if you find one that's hard to find, rare, or exclusive to one area.
Haute Club Membership cards, and pitchforks from the Death Knight starting area sold well. The Goblin starting area has a vendor who is selling chunks of rocks exlusive to that area, would probably be worth a little on the neutral AH.

I half-expected the Go Guy to show up in the credits, just because he referenced him.
Brilliant, as usual. Crendor is a credit to our community.

I'm now scared to delete soulbound items, it's just not worth the risk.
Enthis_17 Jan 17th 2011 12:31PM
I sold my soulbound items to a guy named Dee Vile
...that's bad right?

I just wanted to point out that, Yes. Selling milk on the auction house will net you profit, especially around the holidays that have cooking recipes.

I sold about 60 "How to serve man" books one day in /2. Just keep telling them "Only Xx left! They are going fast!".

Another brilliant video! Love the Morgan Freeman ending. PS does he have his own NPC yet?
VioletArrows Jan 17th 2011 3:20PM
No, but he does have at least 5 worgen players on every server named after him. :p
