Breakfast Topic: What part of you does your character represent?
This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the Aol guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider's pages.
I have a warrior. When I am playing my warrior, I am tanking. And for whatever reason, when I am playing my warrior, I am more likely to call out a player for being annoying. Whether they are unable to stay out of fire or are specced by the patented Dart Board Method™, I feel like I am grumpier when I am tanking. If I am on my druid, healing away mindlessly, I may look at gear or specs and laugh about it in Vent or guild -- but I wouldn't call the player out on it.
As an example, I recently ran a random heroic on my druid and got Halls of Stone. Getting ready for a snoozefest, I threw up Mark of the Wild and took a quick peek at the tank's gear. And that quick peek turned into a stunned moment of surprise. It's a warrior, specced into Titan's Grip. He was using a two-hander and a level 60 PvP shield. He was wearing full PvP gear, with three or four pieces of it being pally gear. He was using the aforementioned Dart Board Method™ for his spec.
And yet I just ignored it. I just kept up the DPS death knight who was effectively tanking everything. It wasn't until someone else in the group finally got tired of it and started a vote to kick that we got rid of him.
So my warrior represents my easily annoyed side. My druid is my relaxed side. My shaman is that little part of me that smiles gleefully for every Thunderstormed player that is launched off something; he is a tad sadistic. What parts of you do your characters represent? Does it make sense that they split off like that?

My hunter stands for sadism and power. There's nothing quite like putting an explosive shot or kill shot on a boss or fellow player.
(Though, you may want I may recant on this after 4.0.6. - He may stand for qq-ing.)

Ugh. I hope not. Been messing around with BM spec. It's not bad. It's NOT survival though. Nothing quite like explosive shot though. Hopefully our pew pew doesn't turn into PU PU ( as in we stink :/ )

To each their own. Me, nothing can top how awesome it is to watch my giant red death moth tearing through things. I just hope they give BM a decent specialization skill, and they find a way to lower the impact of target switching on Kill Command.

i tend to sometimes have a similar set of emotions per class i play. i think based on what the class that you play represents,, it leads one to look at things a certain way. as a tank,, this is someone that should be focused on threat and thereby annoyed when ppl do stupid or unnecessary things. like repeatedly jumping or pulling a group too soon. as a healer, now its all about mana and to me its starting to feel like im counting reciepts at the end of the month wondering were all my mana/money is going and did i spend the right amount on the right person.

I am a paladin. It represents the good inside of them. It represents the will to believe the best in people and their intentions.
But I am also retribution Paladin and so help me if you F*** WITH ME I will use all the energy in the solar system to judge you and make sure you damn well don't do whatever you did to me again,
Ahem. So yes, I suppose you could say I'm a paladin of great judgement.
devilsei Jan 18th 2011 2:07PM
Haha, I am a retribution paladin myself, and you have spoken like a true one.
I'm also a bloodelf paladin (male mind you), so add "don't touch the scrunchy" to your list of "not to do" towards me.

You STOLE your good. *judges you*
and I'm a priest, I'm a healer on pretty much any game I play. I don't know why exactly, but I guess I like to feel crucial.

Game, not true.
That Naruu came with us willingly, as it was foretold long ago it would occur. I'm sure if it really wanted to escape, it could of (thats why its a Sunwell boss).

My holy paladin is the helpful side that wants to be better and see the power of Good victorious.
My rogue, Fail, is the side that likes to stand, sneering over my enemy's corpse, flaunting the greens that took them down. STABSTABSTABSTABSTAB
Josin Jan 18th 2011 8:15AM
My prot warrior represents my protective side, trying to keep my friends out of trouble.
My rogue is my sneaky, sarcastic side, usually a bit of a know-it-all.

My rogue stands for the elitist in me.

My dual specced Holy/Shadow Priest represents my best as a Gemini. I am exclusivly heals for raid and group purposes (because if you want something done right you have to do it yourself!). So my Holy spec represents my extroverted side. I like to think of myself as the spirit of the group, not only healing my friends injuries, but offering much needed words of encouragment and praise. Keeping everyones energy up and pushing my flock forward.
My Shadow spec is my ontroverted side. When my flock doesnt require my services I slip into shadow form and become an annonmous blod of darkness, able to wander Azeroth at will and do whatever I want. When in Shadow, self interest is my only motivation.
And most importantly, I'm a Gnome, so no matter which twin has control, I look down right adorable.

I don't think mine split at all. I have a character for all 10 classes, but I'm pretty much the same person regardless of class.
Noyou Jan 18th 2011 8:49AM
I'm with you there. I don't quite have all 10 classes yet (shaman and druid in the works- priest....?) but I try to be the same player regardless of what toon. I seem to be more chippy on my hunter if i see someone saying something dumb in trade/gen. chat. I tend to be more helpful on my paladin and mage (not sure why the mage- i port a few people for free even. could be that I still rem what it is not to have a mage and need a port :p) I'm more likely to gank a flagged player on all my toons but my pally. I will only gank a lowbee on him if they are messing with a town. I actually think paladins should lose rep if they do certain things like attack npc/lowbee toons. I totally am in the minority there but /shrug.

My hunter represents the part of me that knows he cannot fail. In real life, if I see someone potentially causing an issue for me down the road, I start thinking of how to avoid it. In WoW, I instead think "I know I can beat that, but how?" Usually 'how' involves a devilsaur, a block of ice, a half-dozen snakes, and an entire ashenvale grove's worth of arrows.
lionessa93 Jan 18th 2011 8:18AM
My rogue makes me feel like I can do all the wrong things that I normally wouldn't, while my warrior that I'm leveling at the moment brings out my bossy, formal side.
Noyou Jan 18th 2011 8:52AM
How you play your class is entirely up to you. That stereotype is tired and old. I try to play my rogue with a little more honor and follow the Samurai or Bushido code. Of course he is a combat spec. less back staby :P
lionessa93 Jan 18th 2011 8:56AM
It's true, I'm horribly stereotypical. My rogue is combat too, but yeh, it's also how I roleplay her.

My priest has been my main for 6 years, and not only that it's always been holy or disc spec. Whenever I played my squishy priest, I would be afraid of the pvp server I was on, always looking over my shoulder expecting to get ganked. And ganked I was. It was very frustrating, but my satisfaction always came from healing others in the world, tossing out fort/spirit/shadow buffs to everyone I met, even those of the opposite faction (I would emote them to wait, mind control, and buff them). As a priest, I always felt it was my responsibility to heal and help others as much as I could. The first ever WoW guild I joined was also called Red Cross.
By the time I began raiding MC and BWL, I finally decided to make an alt, a rogue. Of all those that ganked my priest, I loathed the rogue the most, so I decided to start a rogue and unleash my frustrations upon the world. I became a different person then. My rogue was afraid of nothing. Sneaking around the shadows always looking forward to my next victim. I began to pvp and do BGs a lot more and felt the thrill of farming up HKs.
So for myself, my priest represents the caring and nurturing sides of me while my rogue is a bloodthirsty camp-tastic griefing lunatic. But whenever I'm playing either toon, I'm still a very helpful player to all those of my faction.

They all represent OCD part that must optimize everything and get every achievement.
