| UK government spends £2.8 million on road safety browser MMO Children are generally far more interested in video games than in mundane things like crossing the road safety. You can almost understand why the UK's Department of Transport would have something like Code of Everand developed -- it's a browser-based game that's meant to help teach children proper road safety procedure. |

Players flocked to the item shop in droves to take advantage of this amazing deal, and they weren't pleased with Nexon's inevitable response. |

I've heard some really wonderful things about DCU, and if it had been released two months ago, I would have jumped all over that game.
But I don't have room in my heart for two MMOs at the moment. Maybe some day, DCU. I promise to check it out later.
Elmouth Jan 18th 2011 2:08PM
I have to admit, DCUO is one of the few MMOs that might make me switch from WoW for one simple reason.
It has the infinite plotlines & background.
The whole no free trial concept is a bit retarded, altho I'm guessing they need the suscriber money.
They did get more customers than they expected tho, so it might get a free trial treatment eventually.

if you are a comics fan. try dcuo pvp servers ganking feel like a real heroes or villains. awesomeness!!!
First!
Drakkenfyre Jan 18th 2011 9:52PM
Spamming for another game and thinking ganking someone makes you a "hero". Fail.
Posting "first". Double fail.
Think you were first 5 HOURS after the first comment. Damn, you really suck, you know that?
Billlop Jan 18th 2011 9:22AM
That episode of The SImpsons rocked :P
Bart Jan 18th 2011 4:01PM
I thought that was from the simpsons game?
Revrant Jan 18th 2011 10:10AM
That was a good Simpsons, shame they were about ten years too late for EverQuest.
Massively disappoints as usual with "4. World of Warcraft: Draenei" for a top 10 "non-traditional" race, even going so far as to feature the reason they were chosen - ridiculously hot females.
MapleStory? An exploitable bug? Hacking?! No! Couldn't be.
I'm looking forward to trying out DCUO, action-y combat is my one complaint against traditional MMOs, it just isn't there, there's no tactile feel, so this will be a nice reprieve until Champions goes F2P on the 25th.
Rift is well polished and I enjoyed the beta for what it was, but no, it isn't a WoW-killer, because they are incredibly similar games, but unlike WAR which suffered from the same problem this one has devoted developers and an already strong community.
poilbrun Jan 18th 2011 10:30AM
Didn't you find Rift awfully repetitive? So is WoW, I guess, but it does not *feel* as repetitive.
I also have a feeling the "class" system (or rather character development system) will be a nightmare to balance and there will be even more QQ than there is in WoW...
Revrant Jan 18th 2011 1:33PM
The class system is a huge flaw with the game from a balance perspective, true, but it only felt "repetitive" to me because it's the same MMO system we've had since the dawn of the genre, and it only attracts MMO fans.

I have to admit, I was beginning to think that no MMO would ever spark an interest with me this long into Warcraft. I've tracked loads of new MMOs as they were coming out, and none have perked an interest--until now. It must be because of Totalbiscuit's videos, surely. His beta commentary for DC Universe Online has been very enjoyable, and is making me really look forward to the game. I believe I'm going to buy the game and try it out for a month, see how it goes. One sentiment of his has really stuck through to me: if a game turns out to give more enjoyment, then that's all there is to it. How long it will supply that, however, is the question.
RogueJedi86 Jan 18th 2011 11:37AM
DCUO looks and sounds fun, but dammit I need a free trial before I can get into an MMO like this. Give me a few days of free time before I decide if the game is what I want. DCUO just launched a week ago so I gotta give it so leeway, but I wanna try this thing out without having to buy the whole thing yet!
Saithir Jan 18th 2011 12:06PM
Good luck - Aion for example *still* doesn't have a trial. Meanwhile, Cataclysm has had one (requiring Wotlk) for a month now.
razion Jan 27th 2011 12:31AM
While this reply is a bit late, I'd like to point out that, yeah, there is a free trial available. It will last you 10 days, like most trials.
Artificial Jan 18th 2011 1:01PM
I'm pumped for Charr. "Your faith is your weakness, human." :)
Might have something to do with Pyre Fierceshot being the most interesting character in all of the original Guild Wars.
Hero, to Pyre after he turns down being (essentially) king of the Charr: "I'm surprised. ... You're the hero of his revolution."
Pyre: "Revolutions eat their heroes."
Artificial Jan 18th 2011 1:06PM
*this revolution. WTB edit button.

I bought DCUO the day it was released. I have not logged into WoW during this time. I have not even thought about logging into WoW even when my GF is begging me to heal a heroic for her group! I'm quite content playing DCUO, I've got an awesome Hero, CoreFire and an awesome Villain, Doctor Impossible that I'm leveling up! I've borrowed my brothers Xbox360 controller to play it that way and I've found it thoroughly enjoyable! Like others said in previous comments, TotalBiscuits videos played a huge role in my choosing to purchase this game, I was interested in it from the moment I watched the opening cinematic but, TB's beta videos sealed the deal for me, I HAD TO BUY DCUO! If you're waiting a trial for DCUO, you're doing yourself a disservice, go BUY this game!
Hih Jan 18th 2011 2:23PM
I would have rather seen Shadows be the race from Asheron's Call instead of Undead, but hey, I was shocked that they even listed anything from Asheron's Call at all.
Matthew Jan 18th 2011 3:56PM
DCUO is very awesome. It complements wow. more actiony. graphics made me wake up with sticky sheets.
Naming and char recustomization is great.
It has a pretty crappy chat function, though.
for me, its a deluxe video game, less of an MMO (but i'm not 'high up' yet)
Jason Ralph Jan 18th 2011 4:02PM
1.) When you buy the game it gives you 30 days free. Aside from buying the collectors edition, I haven't paid a penny yet.
2.) The lack of free trial.... Please follow the steps below (assuming you access to the discs for the PC version).
Goto www.dcuniverseonline.com/buddykey after having installed the game on your PC.
Enter this code: H284-2362-HKT5-HB7A-4CH6
3.) Doesn't have a game trial for the PS3 ONLY but there's way more on the PC

@Drakkenfyre... whats your problem? did I bother you or something?
