Tabards tabards tabards tabards ...
Roguesan asked:
I've been doing the dailies in Tol Barad for a couple of weeks now; I reckon that spectral horse will match my mage's (eventual) tier 11 quite nicely, and hopefully by the time I manage to claw my way exalted with Baradin's Wardens, it will coincide with having managed to slap together a gear set.
My problem is this: Having been randomly browsing through the achievements list last night looking for a handful that could be worked on during the course of my day-to-day stuff, I found the one for completing 100 dailies in Tol Barad -- with the counter set at 0/100.
What gives?
A lot of the achievement counters are broken for one reason or another. Also, you cannot see how many battles of Tol Barad you've won on the achievement, which makes it a fun guessing game of when you will hit the magic 100 wins mark. Just one of those little annoying bugs, I'd guess.
Zaszh asked:
Where do you get tabards to wear while you're leveling and when should you wear them? The city ones for 1-60 ... then what in BC and Wrath? What is the tabard progression for leveling?
Many tabards that you can purchase from the particular faction's quartermaster give reputation for every mob kill in an instance. For instance, the newly implemented Orgrimmar tabard will give you reputation with Orgrimmar in dungeons from levels 1-60 and then in Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm dungeons. Instances in The Burning Crusade work a bit differently -- each dungeon has a reputation that is associated with it, earning you reputation with that faction instead of the tabard you are wearing. For instance, The Arcatraz rewards reputation with The Sha'tar.
If you don't wear a tabard in vanilla dungeons, you just don't get any reputation. If you don't wear a tabard in Burning Crusade dungeons, you still get reputation for that dungeon's associated faction. No tabard in Wrath dungeons nets you a "base" faction for your particular side -- it was the Horde Expedition for the Horde and the Alliance Vanguard for the Alliance. No tabard in Cataclysm nets you nothing in dungeons.
Breakdown:
- 1-60 dungeons Home city tabards in dungeons
- 60-70 The Burning Crusade Reputation/faction based on dungeon, not tabard-based
- 70-80 Wrath of the Lich King Home city tabards, Wrath faction tabards (Wyrmrest, Argents, etc.) in dungeons
- 80-85 Cataclysm Home city tabards, Cataclysm faction tabards (Therazane, Ramkahen, etc.) in dungeons
Kaahn Stewart asked:
Vol'jin or Zaela for Warchief?
I really hope we haven't seen the last of Zaela. She's awesome. I hope she gets as much attention as old Saurfang did and we get another cool orc leader out of Twilight Highlands. I've always seen Vol'jin as a supporting character, and he hasn't done too much to move from that place in my heart. Zaela could become a really awesome character if they give her some more story.
riley asked:
Is it possible to get the Elementium Vein right outside to the left of Ironclad Garrison? I see that vein everyday with miners trying to get it but failing.
Roll a warrior.
Tom asked:
How come Cataclysm didn't have any 78-80 starting zones?
Blizzard has stated specifically before that Cataclysm is itemized for players 80 and above. The first zones, Hyjal and Vashj'ir, are meant to be completed by characters at level 80. Pushing it down to 78 would have thrown off the leveling curve for the relatively few new zones in Cataclysm, unlike Wrath, which had more content than technically needed to get you from 68-80. And frankly, with all that Wrath content, you shouldn't have a problem getting to 80 before venturing into Cataclysm. Basically, starting from 78 in Cataclysm threw off the leveling progression.

I hate that stupid vein... It spawned as rich pyrite the other day... I tried for a good 10 minutes as it sat there mocking me just out of reach...
Jon Jan 19th 2011 12:22PM
I got it once.
1. Take off all your gear
2. Aggro a mob and drag it over to just under the ledge
3. Let the mob kill you
4. You'll be able to rez on the platform and then drop down to mine it.
It reminds me of the old school way of getting into Shattered Halls without the key. Fly up just in front of the entrance. Drop, die, and rez inside the gate.
Faith Trust Jan 19th 2011 12:40PM
I tried that the other day, only works if the other factions has TB, we have it most of the time, so when you die you rez in the hold..

Being a warrior doesn't work, because there's no path available. That's the good part about Heroic Leap, finding all the places it DOESN'T work.
ldene Jan 19th 2011 12:55PM
can someone explain how a warrior can get it? Heroic Leap only appears to work on flat surfaces?
Eirik Jan 19th 2011 1:25PM
I can verify that Heroic Leap doesn't always work on flat surfaces even. The last boss in Lost City of Tol'vir (Siamat?) laughs at my attempts to leap or even charge him. (mutters) I'll get HIS wind up.

If you're a tauren male, you can jump over a gap on the southish side of the hill while mounted and get to it. Anything smaller doesn't seem to have a hitbox big enough to 'stick' on the other side of the gap; at least, I can't do it, even with pally aura. My bro-in-law plays a Tauren male, and I'm a belf, so I get in the side-car of his motorcycle, and he jumps me across. Either that or my hubby levitates me.
Powatodapeople Jan 19th 2011 1:47PM
there is a way to get it, no matter what class you are. I found it by myself and I've been keeping my mouth shut because I seem to be the only person on the server who knows how to
get there...
Grovinofdarkhour Jan 19th 2011 4:22PM
@ Powa
Think about how useful that is to us. Realize you might as well have said nothing at all.
Sir Broose Jan 19th 2011 4:37PM
That doesn't seem like the sort of attitude that lends powa to people. Seems more like scrudapeople.
Baba Jan 19th 2011 6:39PM
I managed to Heroic Leap my way up there, no mean feat since you often get a "no path available" message, so you have to Leap whilst already jumping through the air.
Still, worth it for the Rich Pyrite Vein and accompanying win-feeling :D

"Is it possible to get the Elementium Vein right outside to the left of Ironclad Garrison? I see that vein everyday with miners trying to get it but failing."
I pick that one up if I've run out of veins in the rest of TB, the trick is to go to the south side, climb up on the hill just south west of the tree, then jump (on a mount) aiming in between the tree and the side of the hill. If you get it just right, you can jump again and land on the higher level, and walk over to get the vein. I can do this on my DK tank without any mount speed increase stuff (just in blood presence), so it should be doable by anyone...

I'll bite. why warriors?

Where the heck did Giblins come from? Are they ancestors of goblins or a mutated offshoot?
Doozy Jan 19th 2011 11:25AM
In the goblin starting zone, in the building your toon starts in a goblin named Hobart Grapplehammer comments to his assistant about a lawsuit against him for creating the gilblins.
He says "I'll soon be known as the greatest Goblin tinker of all time! Besides, that negligence case involving the creation of the gilgoblins will never stick."
Typical goblin!
furrama Jan 19th 2011 2:18PM
And it's possible that goblin is just trying to get attention.
They could also be old god related. A faceless one in the goblin starter area states that he remembers the creation of goblins, and there are a lot of gilgoblins swimming around in Vash'jir with the Naga. They could also be whatever goblins were before the trolls forced them to work in the mines on Kezan, (pre smart juice- the gillys aren't too bright and seem only interested in shinies from what they say when they attack you).
Ata Jan 19th 2011 2:42PM
@furrama
I don't think he's trying to get attention, his attention is focused on his inventions. He's your typical mad scientist type who's extremely intelligent and 'not quite with it', later on in the Lost Isles he has you get a giant mechachicken egg and ends up pelting the village with explosive chicken eggs, one of those 'it was a good idea that I didn't think through' types.
Your theory is just as valid though. Considering the goblin's willingness to sue for anything, and also considering that particular goblin's willingness to use anything laying around that he can find, it's just as viable that he may have gotten hold of some Gilgoblins for an experiment and something happened to eventually fabricate the 'he expiremented on us and created these monsters!' lawsuit.
I dont know if the goblins would be so willing to accept that they once were the gilgoblins, just like it's fairly clear the humans won't readily accept having once been the vyrkul (or the vyrkul accept that the humans are their small 'weak' kin.). The gnomes find that they were once mechagnomes fascinating, and the dwarves are -all over- having once been earthen, but I dont think any of the other races would take well to finding out their primordial origins.
Banaoil Jan 19th 2011 11:07AM
The elementium vein to the left of IG... Priest levitate.
ImSteevin Jan 19th 2011 11:12AM
You CAN get that node! It takes some really tricky mount jumps off the tree branches around the back but it's possible, that rich pyrium node was finally mine!
Tuscansalami Jan 19th 2011 11:24AM
For some reason, I only seem to be able to make that jump on my fossilised raptor mount, and even then, only after half a dozen attempts. Probably more a psychological thing as to when I hit space to jump than anything...
Still, it's amusing when I manage to jump up there, and see two or three people trying to get to it from the wrong side whilst I just walk up to it without any competition.
