EU superguild <Paragon> has scored the world-first
Sinestra kill, announced on Thursday. After being beaten to the punch on heroic Cho'gall by <For The Horde>, <Paragon> came back swinging by downing Sinestra after what appears to be a hectic, constantly-changing encounter hotfixed even between their attempts on the dragon. Sinestra is the hardmode-only boss who resides underneath Cho'gall in the Bastion of Twilight. After defeating Cho'gall on heroic mode, the Sinestra fight becomes available.
<Paragon> released a statement on
their site about the encounter, describing their first impressions of the fight. Congratulations, <Paragon> -- now tell us what deep, dark secret Sinestra is hiding? I do want to know ...

Not a single shaman in their raid...
johnthediver Jan 20th 2011 1:32PM
Why would their be? Every buff a shaman can bring is now provided by someone else, and being a hybrid class we suffer from the hybrid tax.
Crazyates Jan 20th 2011 1:35PM
Hullo, Time Warp! ;)
Utakata Jan 20th 2011 4:04PM
I was going to say Crazyates, least they brought Mages this time. :)
It should be pointed out johnthediver, if that where the case, as in all things being equal as you claim, there should of been Shamans in their make-up. Perhaps they found something lacking in the class. As I indicated, they did not bring Mages for their first Heroic LK downing...because they felt they where not up to snuff. And not because they thought Mages brought everything that every other class could bring. Just saying.
Ice Jan 20th 2011 5:21PM
Hybrid tax is no longer in game tho.
Crimson Jan 21st 2011 1:40AM
With an expansion centered around Elementals and Shamans in general, this is pretty depressing...

"shaman = useless
resto = useless if you don't need tide
ele = useless compared to demo lock if fight has lots of movement or aoe. And if you already have 10% sp from demo why wouldnt you take mage, hunter or warlock which will do better dps
enha = useless"
There is a link there where they discuss it in more length.

I'd like to know how many hours these guys put into gearing/raiding in an average week.
IvanP91 Jan 20th 2011 1:29PM
25 hours per day.
I realize the Day on Earth is 24 hours, but in order to do that, these guys needed 25.
So 25x7
Chris Jan 20th 2011 2:51PM
@ IvanP91 LOL so very true :D
Aldarion Jan 20th 2011 4:54PM
Yeah because they get up an hour earlier every single day. It really adds up people, just give it a try!
Powatodapeople Jan 20th 2011 1:28PM
they said that an exploit let dark simulacrum hit the boss for 1 billion damage, and that scared them because it "almost killed sinestra"....how much life does she have??
Crazyates Jan 20th 2011 1:34PM
I believe that was before the hotfixes. There were several attempts at the boss, and I believe the mechanics changed several times as bugs were fixed.
Faith Trust Jan 20th 2011 1:48PM
which doesnt answer the question of how much life she has..
Jeff (Not that one ^ ) Jan 20th 2011 1:48PM
According to their screenshot on MMO Champion, the hit was only for 198 Million so their "billion" was probably just hyperbole.
As for 198 Million being a lot, Magmaw is entry level and he has 33 Million on 10 normal.
Ashamanxx Jan 20th 2011 3:43PM
Based on comments over on MMO, it seems that the 1 billion damage did in fact happen but it wasn't one shot, it was a ticking dot that hit her for a metric ton each time; this was apparently during a phase where she regenerates health so it would hit and nearly kill her, she'd regenerate, hit and nearly kill her, and so forth. Though imagining a fight where you have to kill 200 million hp which includes a regenerative phase like that seems insane to me.
Zenith Jan 21st 2011 2:50AM
As I understand it from reading mmo-champ also trying to figure this out, when the second phase of the fight starts (lets say for arguments sale when she is at 50%), she puts up a mana shield and regenerates health. If we assume that during this phase you are meant to go attack something else as she just regens everything back (with the shield absorbing most *normal* damage). The phase will continue and she will keep regenerating untill the other target is taken care of(or maybe just a phase transition), allowing for much more than 200 million damage to be done to her without it actually killing her.
Also, the ability seems to be called wrack and a quick search on wowhead turns up one that does increasing shadow damage over a 1 minute duration and jumps to two friendlies when dispelled. My only question is if the damage is percentage based, otherwise the same amount of damage would be done to a player and dispelling would only spread the love, unless this works as the enrage timer for the fight

Well done Paragon! : )
