The Daily Quest: Don't be a sad panda
WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
We're kicking off today's Daily Quest with some raid tips from Celiebugs, who at the tender age of 3 seems to have a pretty good grasp of what's important in the world of raiding. Don't be a nubcake, guys, it'll only make you a sad panda, and nobody wants that. Thank you to reader Emily for sending in the video! Speaking of raid tips, I think I've got a few posts around here about just those sorts of things ...
- Bible of Dreams has a handy list of things to check when asking yourself if you're ready to raid.
- Raging Monkeys offers some insight into what makes a good raid boss.
- Cannot Be Tamed has some first impressions of discipline priest raid healing.

Very cute video.. "Don't be a Nubcake!" rofl.. Kind of hard to understand her but that's mainly due to the huge amount of jumpcuts. Kind of like one of those over the phone computer billing systems, piecing sentances out of 2-3 voice tracks.

If you go to the post on her mum's blog ( http://crispyhands.wordpress.com/2011/01/19/celiebugs-raid-tips ) there's a transcript. I assume the jump-cuts were because of long pauses and unrelated comments - Celiebugs is adorable but she tends to ramble incoherently at times. ;)

Yes, that's why there are jump cuts and towards the end of the video, she got the hiccups! But I didn't want to stop recording, because she was saying some pretty epic stuff. :)

The kid was ridiculously cute, but those cuts made me feel like I was watching Jacob's Ladder, maybe a Tool video. You know the kind, with the things that just don't move right.
But the "I don't want to be a sad panda" was adorable.

She is so adorable

Regarding this comment from the Bible of Dream post:
"If you are close to the 9k, start looking at how you can fine tune. Try pulling back on some of that hit, shooting for closer to 10% hit than 14-17%. This means having to keep an eagle-eye watch on your debuffs to ensure you cast another Vampiric Touch if the first one doesn't land, but it can make a boost in your DPS in the long run."
That's just plain silly. I've seen it, and done it as a shadow priest and a warlock, that being hit capped is the best way to increase your DPS. A hit capped player will put out more DPS than a non hitcapped player who has superior stats within 10-20% much more often than not.

Let's not have this argument on another article.
Mathematically int outdoes hit for several caster classes, but on the consequences of missing your milage may vary.
it's a null point anyway as you can't and won't be reforging int, and you shouldn't really need to gem hit for more than a couple of weeks anyway.

That's my little girl. Having two parents that play WoW makes for a child that knows what she is talking about. She already talks about her Mage and her Shaman, that she doesn't have...yet. Haha. Thanks for posting it. :)

Tales from the Void, in its third post of the week, urges Blizzard to stick to their guns on the Cataclysm mission intents, and to HOLD THE LINE!

Sorry, but I've put my lv85 into storage until the regular 5-man dungeons stop feeling like raids. And heroics? Riiight.
So until the nerf bat smacks the instances, I'll stick to leveling my alts.
omedon666 Jan 21st 2011 11:18PM
Sam: there is absolutely nothing wrong with that approach! Good on you for playing within your personally set limits of what you call fun! This is exactly why each tier (and yes, reg85 and heroics are "tiers" now) is so distinctive, so at each step, a new set of people can say "I'm comfy here for now" and STOP! This kind of personal honesty is intended, and those pushing beyond their comfort zone ARE DUMB to do so this early like there's a stopwatch ticking in their ear!
We have at least a year and a half left, are we really in a hurry to have ol' Vanessa become the new Ingvar? Not me!

Also, I'm more with you in a "gear access" context than a nerf bat context. Stuff getting easier because you waited for gear access to open up is a good strategy, as its inevitable. Waiting for a nerf bat is a gamble that, with all due respect, I hope never pays off.

Well, it paid off with Skadi. Two years ago my rogue put together six pugs just to visit the UP elder and no dice--had everything or the meta but that (and therefore had to redo all 13 dungeons the next time). Last year, though, it was no problem because Skadi had been nerfed in the meantime.
And yes, I'm currently leveling my smith so I can get some i359 gear for both of us, but some of those basic-level 5-mans are insane, and I'm talking the final boss in Stonecore and the raidish feel of Halls. I'm intentionally avoiding the entrances of both with my smith until those two get straightened out.

With everyone talking about healing these days may I suggest a read that's aimed at how to be a good DPS, with a few tank tips thrown in. As noted in the post, it was originally written during Wrath, but I think it really hits home right now with the simple and, one would think, obvious advice that a lot of players just need a little refresher on.

Don't let the title fool you, it is about being DPS, I promise! I main spec Healer and offspec Tank on both my main toons, so I welcome the input of people with DPS mains.

Blizzard should hire her to announce class changes when they are released -- how could any Paladin rage when nerfed by Celiebugs?
