The annual Lunar Festival starts tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011. Fighting Omen, honoring the elders, getting some lunar-looking costumes -- it's all on the docket this year again. The in-game activities will run through Feb. 12, so there's a good amount of time to get all the achievements you need.
But wait, what achievements, you ask?
Well, I'm glad you asked, because our Master of Achievement Earning and Druid Ghostcrawlering, Allison Robert, has but together a
wonderful guide for 2011 Lunar Festival.
Enjoy your elders, kids!

Its on at EU atm.
I went to take quest and it asked me to talk to "lunar harbinger in park district in stormwind" at that point I just facepalmed and thought "I do hope elders are not flying in the air or under ground". Gladly so far they have changed the positions from what I read from green chat.

I wonder if this happens on the US realms as well?
At least the poor nelfs didn't hover in the middle of nowhere.
Although, now that I think of it, I didn't look for corpses on the bottom of the crater... I guess they would have despawned by now so we'll never know :/
But I can't help myself. I imagine two poor nelfs who appear in the middle of the air and have just enough time to shout a "Curse you, Blizzard!" before they fall to their deaths.

In SW he is just outside the front gates where the table was for Pilgrims Bounty.

this is one of my favorite in-game holidays! Behind Hallow's End, but still up there

It's good to know that Blizzard is continuing to update these events even after working oh so very hard to make Cataclysm's end game content so unbelievably fun...

Have you cleared it all? Didn't think so.

Well the intro quest lady tells you to go to the Park in Stormwind ... you can see where this is leading already.
So now there is a quest ? on the mini map and a smoking hole in the ground where the quest NPC apparently has not been corrected.
GG Blizz!

Also another thing for people to be aware of, it SEEMS if you are max Rep with Alliance, you do NOT get reputation with the Elders. Which makes sense, right, because they grant 75 Alliance Rep. Except the problem is, many of us have exalted rep with the Alliance... and not with Gilneas. So unless they put a hotfix in to allow these elders to count for Gilneas, we're not getting that rep. Since the original quest says Stormwind Park too, we may see a fix on Tuesday for both issues. I'm not sure if the Horde are having the same issue with Horde Rep/Bilgewater. My Horde wasn't exalted with all the Horde so has some leniency still. It's not a huge problem, but just pointing it out for people like me who were hoping to use the holiday for a chance for easy Gilneas Reputation.
Anteia Jan 23rd 2011 4:05AM
Replying to myself to add that a Horde friend who is doing the elders right now said Bilgewater is, in fact, not budging either despite them NOT being exalted with the Horde faction. So it seems our two new reps are out in the cold.
josh Jan 23rd 2011 5:45AM
The rep isn't working for any of the factions. I'm on my new worgen, with ONLY exalted with Stormwind, and I'm stuck at 5999/6000 friendly with Exodar, Ironforge and Gnomeregan. It's kinda screwing us over rep wise.
Scott Jan 23rd 2011 12:57PM
My toon is max rep with all five vanilla/BC alliance factions, but only friendly with Gilneas - but i found her gilneas rep climbing with each elder last night. She got about halfway to honored by doing the Kalimdor elders.
advntrguy Jan 23rd 2011 2:00PM
Having the same problem on the Horde side with my Death Knight. He's only exalted with Undercity because I ran back to do all the lowbie quests.
I'm not noticing the 25% spillover either, but not 100% sure that it's kicked in yet levelwise.
I'm going to try the cooking daily to test this out. Seems like "Horde" (or Alliance) rep gains aren't going to all subfactions. Hmm.
advntrguy Jan 23rd 2011 2:16PM
Cooking is only Orgrimmar rep. Didn't remember correctly. Sorry.
Rajinnu Jan 23rd 2011 5:26AM
Gilneas rep is pointless for you Allies anyway unless you are going for "the exhalted"
Goblins > Worgen
PvtDeth Jan 23rd 2011 6:18AM
Gilneas rep is pointless if your only aim in gaining rep is to get a mount. Not everyone has the same gameplay goals as you, as clearly evidenced in the comments above.
PvtDeth Jan 23rd 2011 6:16AM
I have a bad feeling about this. More than once when there has been a bugged holiday, the response has been basically, "Sorry, we'll get it fixed for next year."
PvtDeth Jan 23rd 2011 6:21AM
Ok, I may have spoken too soon. It appears tht you can do everything you need to do in Stormwind, it's only the quest map location that is wrong.
Rajinnu Jan 23rd 2011 6:22AM
I know what you are saying but they have far more important things to worry about than a potentially buggy holiday.. like fixing Tol Barad and some other stuff.
Also I clearly noted unless you are going for Exalted. What other point would there be in that reputation? 'gameplay goals aside' I am not having a go I just don't see any other purpose to it in game apart from adding to that achievement.
