Going out on a limb, but there were a whoooole lot of people who refused to discover Stonecore and those people became very popular companions for random heroics because it made sure the group wouldn't get Stonecore.

This isn't Blizzard saying, "Hey, let's make it easier!" it's "Nice try, suckers. Get thee to Stonecore!"
