Tuesday Morning Post: Lunar lamentations edition

So anyway, now I'm thinking I should just level them via archaeology, but doing archaeology a second or third time might actually be worse than doing Northrend a seventh or eighth time. Still, at least archaeology is apparently getting a lot more lucrative in patch 4.0.6. Speaking of patch 4.0.6, no, we do not know when it's coming to live servers. Seeing as maintenance this morning is only from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pacific time, it's probably not that week. That said, we do have plenty of other patch 4.0.6 news for you to catch up while the servers are down. Read on for all the latest.

Well there are always battlegrounds and dungeons. A guildie was saying at 80 he got 4/10s of a level doing AV (victory of course). But in my experience AV queue was gigantic, either its so long as to be worthless or its so short meaning your side always loses (which yields very little xp)

The grey items you get are having their vendor price increased. While some are getting increased by a few silver or gold one item is worth 1k gold, the Signet of express zoe, or whatever it's called.

As I recall, the Elders never gave XP. They gave "Horde" (or presumably Alliance) Reputation instead as well as the Coins of Ancestry. Remember, Lunar Festival was put in pre-TBC, when Horde (or Alliance) Rep was difficult to come by.
The Hallow's End Candy Buckets and the Midsummer Bonfires both offer XP (or money), and no reputation.

I thought they gave XP but I am probably not remembering correctly. They give out alliance/horde rep now so that makes sense. I know with Love is in the air there are a few quests that give XP/gold. A couple dailies too but nothing that will significantly level a toon. Like you said the two major ones are hallowed eve and midsummer.

I found (& had confirmed by GM ticket) that you only get rep gains off of the Lunar Festival to Horde or Alliance sub-factions below Honored. Once you hit Honored it will say you're gaining rep but your rep won't go up.

I was trying to get some extra rep from finding elders, but apparently that doesn't work either, as none of my alliance reputations increased at all. Am i missing something? (except the rep from the visited elders)

" has landed the world-first kill of heroic raid boss Sinestra. Does that mean raiding was too easy for this tier again?"
No, it does not. Who cares what the top-skill group can do? I'm more interested in what the rest of us can do. My guild has just started attempting the Cataclysm raids. It's going to be a long time still before we think it's "easy".
egburr Jan 25th 2011 8:49AM
Ok, cut/paste angle brackets from the story causes problems. That should have started with the quote about (less than)Paragon(greater than).
Sapphiria Jan 25th 2011 8:58AM
I was hoping to get my Gilneas (worgen) rep tied in to the Alliance reputation the Elder's provide, but it did not.
Maybe it will get implemented with a hot fix :)
If not I do plan on still visiting some old and new spots and taking the day out to enjoy the scenery and smell the roses, while riding my Wintersaber.
Still trying to decide if I should hold on to my token's, I keep hoping for a Lunar Festival Pet

I'm a little frustrated with the elders...especially the one in Burning Steppes. Seems he is phased until completing a quest line. Well, I have no desire to quest in burning steppes with my 82 alt until the elder "unphases". Perhaps moving the elder to an area that has no phasing would solve some issues there.
esmerelda1 Jan 25th 2011 2:15PM
I was able to get all the Elders with my 85 Druid and I haven't done any of the quests in Burning Steppes. Look up the elder on www.wowhead.com because I think there were a couple out in that area whose location changed completely. You can complete this achievement without doing any of the old world quests!
JB Jan 25th 2011 9:55AM
My irritation is that they.reset the elders visited last year.... If you had not completed the zone achievement....
brammage Jan 25th 2011 10:06AM
It's not just the Elders that have been reset. I've lost the achievement for downing Omen, too.
Sedna Jan 25th 2011 10:23AM
Thanks for reminding me to go visit Ezra this year. I always like to swing by and say hello on my main- I think this year I'll try to do it on my alts too. Hey, little guy. You haven't been forgotten.
Claptrap Jan 25th 2011 1:04PM
at level 84 (holy priest) hitting the northrend dungeons without help is tough (azjol nerub and utgarede pinnalce, parcularly). you cant queue for them, so its a bit frustrating,
nataswar Jan 25th 2011 4:30PM
I looked him up...couldn't find him where wowhead said. Went to forums and saw the phasing issue. Will try again...thanks for the info!
Probably doesn't help that my dumb self got that alt disliked by booty bay. First quest giver in the cave at flame point? Yep...from booty bay. Lol
Discadin Jan 25th 2011 5:32PM
The Elder inside WG, how do you get it if the opposite faction holds WG and no matter how hard you try you can't win the battleground by yourself?
